Note! If you have participated in the Microsoft rebate for this product this year, then you are not eligible for another rebate. The Microsoft rebate originally ended on June 30, but has since been extended to September 30.

Best Buy has the Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical for $24.99 - $15 manufacturer rebate this week (page 29).

Office Depot has the same item for $19.99 - $5.00 instant rebate = $14.99 (page 6).

Go to Best Buy and buy mouse, then go to Customer Service and price match to Office Depot. You pay:

$24.99 Best Buy
$11.00- 110% PM to Office Depot
$15.00- Best Buy rebate
$10.00- Microsoft Manufacturer rebate
-------
$11.01-

plus tax (if applicable) and stamp for rebate.

Ok, here are the links:

Link to mouse at BestBuy.com
Link to mouse at OfficeDepot.com
Link to Best Buy $15 rebate for model D66-00021 (newer version) of this mouse
Link to Best Buy $15 rebate for model D66-00029 (older version) of this mouse
Link to (at BestBuy.com) Microsoft $10 rebate for model D66-00021 (newer version) of this mouse...I suspect Microsoft will accept this form for model D66-00029 as well, but to be safe, just use the alternate form below.
Link to (at Staples.com) Microsoft $10 rebate for either version of this mouse. This is essentially the same rebate (same address) as the one above. I have called the Microsoft rebate center and this form is acceptable for either model of the mouse and they will accept a printout of this coupon for the rebate.

As noted above, the D66-00021 model # of this mouse is a newer revision than the D66-00029 model. These model #s will be on the Microsoft product label found on top of the retail box. Both boxes will say "Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical". The D66-00021 model will have an additional feature listed as "Three Programmable Buttons" that will not be found anywhere on the D66-00029 retail box.

Also the D66-00021 has a portion that is Black in color. The D66-00029 is a slightly transparent white-ish blue-ish color.

Edit: Oh yeah, I did this myself; it worked fine. The Best Buy rebate only requires a copy of the UPC.

Does anyone have the D66-00021 model? I wonder what exactly are the differences between the two versions. The info at amazon.com shows that the D66-00021 scans 6000 times per second. I have the older version and it doesn't say anywhere on the box how many times per second it scans the desktop.

What is with their problem. They just f-cking work there, its like its their business.

Pain in the ass.

I did my PM'ing at the cash register. They are pretty cool about it. The clerk took it up to the manager or supervisor and ok'ed it.

I got the Yamaha 24x burner about two weeks ago when they had it at Circuit City for 49.99. I went last week to BestBuy and asked the guy if I could pricematch their $129.99 price with CC. He called CC to check on the price. CC told him that they don't have it in their system anymore and that they're getting rid of their Yamaha's. So he told me that if I could show him the receipt then he would do it. So I rushed back home reallllly quick and grabbed my receipt. Came back up there and gave it to him. He took it over to show his boss or supervisor at the Customer Service desk for approval or something. Then I walked over there and his boss said that they can't pm because it's below their cost (he says they get it for $110 from yamaha) BS!!! So the salesguy and his coworker buds come join their boss and tell me that he can't do it and doesn't know why CC would have it that cheap and BB would be losing money if they pm it. He claimed that he would've done it if it was his store. I knew they wouldn't let me get it (CC didn't have any in stock anyways but I guess they don't know their PM policy well). Well today I came back BB again, and checked the shelves. Looks like all 5-6 of the drives I saw on the shelf last time disappeared mysteriously. Could I have been played for a fool and they got it for themselves, or did people really bought all of them for $130.

About two months I went to BB to have PM a to a Staples product that had an instant rebate. They refused claiming that they do not match instant rebate.

I have never had any problems pricematching with Best Buy. The key is to get there early and and make sure the store you are pricematching with has the item in stock.

No stock = no pricematch.

I always go to customer service because the pricematch policy is printed above thier heads. (the big gray sign that is on the wall) If they try to give you some guff then just have them read the policy to you.

I think you have the newer and older versions mixed up.

The D66-00029 should be the newer one, and the D66-00021 the older one. This is based on the D66-00029 having higher serial #s, Lot codes, and WO code (whatever that's for).

The D66-00029 is commonly listed as "Optical Wheel Mouse 1.1", while there is no version listing for D66-00021, which probably makes it the original one (version 1.0)

As for the mention about the 3 programmable buttons...it's all done through software anyways.

Microsoft is super fast with rebates...i got mine within a month....i had a hard time price matching at Best Buy because they claimed that their price is actually cheaper after the rebate 24.99 - 15 = 9.99 vs 14.99 at Office Depot. I got it after a little arguing...

For the (presumably) non-native English speakers, the correct grammar is "Best Buy sucks!"

"Best Buy is suck!" or "Best Buy suck!" are incorrect.

I believe "Best Buy is suck!" should be correct also because suck can be used both as verb as well as noun.

Damn, I just bought this mouse a week ago for $19.99 from Office Depot.
It had a $10MIR which fortunately I haven't sent away for.
I guess I'd better return it and buy from BB. Even if BB won't PM, it's still free after MIR.
Looks like it'll work to send in both rebates.
