PM against Staples worked (manager spent 15 minutes verifying it, but no complaints about 32x vs 40x), so price was $18.98 before tax. Only two rebates printed out and I notice the third one's disappeared from the website, so we'll see what happens. union sq. NYC CC had only Taiwanese TDKs.

There was at least 50 of these TDK spindles at the CC I went to...all Taiwanese-made though.

Has anyone actually had problems with Taiwanese-made TDK or Imation CDs?

yes! you guys rock! I scored a japanese spindle. They still had 2 left at the store I went to. The 40x ones were Taiwan, the 32x ones were Japan. Apparently they have the same UPC number.

I've had problems with ritek Taiwan TDK discs before. but it also could have been the HP burner that I had to replace twice. But that was a while ago with 12x discs. I have no idea about the current crop.

As mentioned before, there are two different makers for TDK's 40X CD-Rs. The black bottom ones were made by CMC Magnetics, and the grey bottom one by Ritek. Ritk is better than CMC. TY made TDK discs are all rated 32X.

Need some help with the rebates, I got the CD-Rs and printed the 3 forms from the online links, however all 3 forms want a Serial #, what is that? I don't see any Serial numbers anywhere on the CD-R label,,, Help!

that's a generic part of their online rebate forms. If you got the store printout rebate forms, you'll see there's no mention of including a serial #.

This is a great deal if all of the rebates go through. I went to the Pinole-Hilltop CC in the Bay Area. Scooped up the last "Hecho en Japan" spindle, though there may be more in the back who knows. It just puts a smile on my face to get paid for CDR's.

I noticed that my Imation and TDK 50pack spindles are exactly the same. Only difference is the silkscreen on the discs. As far as Made in Taiwan is concerned, you could say TDK is CMC, Imation is CMC.

Compusa has these TDKs on sale for $19.99 so a Pricematch might be in order to get a quick $5.00 off the price. Sneaky Circuit City changed the expiration date on the 3 rebate in the middle of the night :disgust: Hopefully, they won't give a hard time when we try to Pricematch with Compusa. I pick pocket overweightwallet.com for this information about PM with Compusa.

I [had] that damn rebate in an open window, but shut-down windows because I was having problems printing the form and figure it was because windows needed rebooting. Then I come back here to find it's been changed....

Edit: Wow, I still have that freakin' window open! Expiration date is NOT 7/27 OK, I printed that one--will scan tonight (don't have pdf distiller ) Anybody wants to host? Just to make sure: Y5316 expires 7/31, Y5352 expires 8/03, MM021 expires 7/31. Which one do you need?
