Now wait a minute....as I followed up on the other thread, the guy had only posted a few times, but had been a member for over 3 years (registered in 2000) and therefore, in THAT case, he was NOT new to AT. He just wasn't an active participant. Oh well...whatever....

If you're running linux you also have a built in pdf generator (I've never used it but I know you can "print" to PDF)

pretty cool...one issue: it opens up like 2 or 3 popups everytime you create a pdf. It basically hijacks your current IE window (some what annoying)...but still can't beat free!

I find if you quickly close the first IE window that pops up, the other pop-ups won't come up.

Also, you could add the URL that is from the first window and add it to the HOSTS file, pointing it to 127.0.0.1.

Go here and learn how to supertrick. This should stop the popup problem quite nicely... unless they come from the same site. :/

OR...you could just download the latest beta of OpenOffice which does PDF conversion and Flash output. Of course, its a 60mb download and takes awhile to setup...but there's no advertising!

Cool.

In theory, PDF is just a file format (I think it is an open standard, but not completely sure), so you'd think there'd be a lot more freeware tools out there. Unfortunately, the only people who really need to create PDF's ("need" being subjective, but basically organizations that MUST have docs look the same printed and in digital form) are willing to pay big bucks for Adobe crapware.

If there are any Windows developers out there, do a search for QuickPDF, it's dirt-cheap COM component for generating PDF's in your application.
