I pretty much want to make a site.

not a site for anything in particular, just my stuff, so other people can see projects and so forth.

freehostia.com is quite good for a free host. Amazingly, even the free plan doesn't require you to have banner ads. Over time you can choose to scale up your service from free to non-free.
