Making two gigabit lan ports

Ok, this may sound crazy, i have a L1N64-SLI-WS board it has two gigabit lan ports, i want to make them run together to make it run at two gigabit? Is this possible

nVIDIA has teaming support which could be used for this purpose, but it has the standard limitations.

The problem with most implementations is that it's still not possible to have a single connection / conversation go over both ports simultaneously. So if you get it working well, it might be good for a server, which hosts many clients concurrently (and then you'll be bottlenecked on the rest of the system if you manage to beat the gigabit bottleneck), but not useful for client computers themselves or file transfers run one at a time.

It does not sound crazy, it is crazy

What you are asking about is called NIC Bonding/teaming, it can not be done with regular Motherboard NICs and Client OS.

You just have to let go and live with the "disturbing" idea that you have a $5 worth of useless NIC on your Mobo unless you configure a separate Giga Network.

So, not only do you need OS support and driver support to bond 2 NICs together into what is commonly called EtherChannel you also need a switch to support the aggregation as well. Also, one thing to keep in mind, you will never be able to transmit more than 1 Gig per flow and when I say flow, I mean something like a FTP session between 2 nodes, even if they both have 2 NICs bonded together.
