Wow had no idea that comet was so big. I figured it was maybe the size of a house.
You can open an airport on that thing!

Interesting. I wonder if individual parts that make up a plane are serial numbered.

So who can tell me why French cops/investigators are the ones taking care of business on Reunion Island?
Asked to? French territory?

reunion is a french overseas territory, thus part of france in the same way hawaii is part of the US.
... How the hell can you own territory -- in modern times (i.e. not more than 5 years back?) -- when you can't even make a bee-line to it without running into another country. You can make a beeline to Hawaii and Guam at least.
Okay, I am learned.

The United States purchased Alaska from the Russian Empire on March 30, 1867, for 7.2 million U.S. dollars at approximately two cents per acre ($4.74/km2).
lol 2 cents per acre. That's almost as bad as the BC government selling all it's water to Nestle for like $2 per billion gallon or something crazy like that. They're basically just giving all the water away till it turns to a drought.

sadly this is true. Just a fluke that this part remained sealed up and buoyant. So is Tahiti, Moorea, Bora Bora, and the other 100+ islands that are part of the Society Islands or more recently French Polynesia. When I was in Tahiti and Bora Bora I saw a French Naval frigate patrolling. Must be the most sought after posting.
I had no idea Reunion was a French overseas territory, having the same status as any EU country even. Just read up on the islands history, kind of interesting.
The wreckage, which Boeing has confirmed belongs to a 777, can at least dismiss the fringe theories like the Diego Garcia and Kazakhstan examples.
I still think finding the crash site and the majority of the wreckage and an official explanation will never happen except maybe by accident years or decades from now.

Speaking of French islands. The Falklands are British...or are they Argentinian?
