They are still protected under copyright, any place telling you they have them legally is full of it.

You need to at least buy a circuit board from the game, then you at least are into the grey area.

You need to own the game that the ROM was copied from in order for it to be legitimate, AFAIK.

If you knew about that site, why did you start the thread?

Because that site only lists Atari ROMs, and Mr. Do was not done by Atari. The site almost looks legit, although I have my doubts. Seems like I would have heard about it, dealing with all the arcade related stuff I deal with. I will have to investigate further.

grr8scott, you don't have an old Super Nintendo lying around somewhere, do you? I seem to recall the SNES Mr. Do was true to the arcade version. I picked up a new, sealed copy for SNES for $20.00 or so on eBay, a bare cart could be had for much less I am sure.

I used to have an "Arcade Case" That you put a 25 inch tv in a long time ago for my SNES. But its long gone, and miss the true feel of Arcade action in the rec room. May have to look into that route, but if i can build a mame box, with an X - Arcade style stick, and find LEGAL ROMS, will give me more arcade action than just the Mr DO Series. Was dissapointed not to see Pole Position at starroms, but hopefully, since that was an ATARI Game, will be on there soon!

Pole Position was by NAMCO, actually. ATARI just licensed it for U.S. distribution. A good site for arcade game information is KLOV.

As stated before, I want more than just what is listed at their site, and Mr Do is not an Atari Game, as a few others i will be seaking soon.

Why don't the original companies or companies holding the copyrights just sell them on teh Intarweb??

Like, why can't they just band together and release their own multiplatform 'Official' version of MAME, then sell ROMs online made specifically for the 'official' mame (like with Digital Rights Management etc.) Sell them for 4.95 a pop. They would make a killing.

I agree 100% beats the $50 games of today, and takes us back to our kiddie days of pockets full of quarters!
