The dog bit him. If its smart enough to give its smart enough to take. If a dog was attacking me I would do everything I could to stop it.

In most jurisdictions, attacking a police dog is the same as attacking a police officer.

That is, it is felony assault.

But if you ever have the opportunity to explain your philosophy to a judge, I'm confident that he would give it the appropriate consideration.

I'm sure a pussy like you would do the same to a human police officer trying to detain you. Don't flee the police and it wouldn't be an issue.

If a person were biting me, damn straight I wouldn't give a !@#$ who they were.

Perhaps a more civilized recourse should be taken by police.

What do you stupid fucks expect the dog to do, talk the criminal down? Fuck tht guy, he shouldn't have done what he did. The dogs are rained to bring them down using the only thing it can. Some of you are as simple minded as that dog.

I don't see the big deal here. Cops and the dogs that are trained are under that risk. I mean if I know I'm guilty of a crime and I'm running for the police, and a dog gets a hold of me, that dog is going to get as much of a thrashing and/or death as I can possibly inflict on it. That means kicking it, shooting it, stomping it, breaking its neck, stabbing it repeatedly, whatever the means may have to be. I mean I understand where you guys are coming from, that he should just stop and give up ect. But cmon guys we're talking about a criminal here, if he's running from an officer what the heck makes you think he's just going to lay down and stop?

Ear biting stories are always so exaggerated. He didn't bite off the dog's ear, he bit off a PART of the dog's ear.

Proven what, that you want / think people should be bitten by dogs?

You can lay there and take it all you want. Other folks defend themselves.

if he didnt want to get bitten he should have fired a gun at a car and then ran.

I am very far from a "LEO's legal rights" supporter around here, but your post is full of fail.

Even here you don't understand debate. If it is "full of fail" you must support your stance. Otherwise you're immediately wrong. The burden of proof is on you.

lol this thread is funny...

my thoughts..

dog is trained to bite people.. and it gets bit.. lol, and people are up in arms..

you ever cornered ANYTHING AT ALL? it will bite.. it's just the way it is.

what's the old worn out thinking here??? that you can oppress anything? seemed to work out fine lol.. you oppress the human, it bites a dog. simple as that..

face it people.. anarchy is the only civilized way.

I've heard dog training rumors that you can bite(read - not detach) a dogs ear to enforce dominance. That would be my second guess, this guy heard this rumor and thought "The dog will let me go if I show dominance". First guess is, of course, zombie.

Ear biting stories are always so exaggerated. He didn't bite off the dog's ear, he bit off a PART of the dog's ear.

Partially tore the ear in the middle, and they're stitching it back together. I feel bad for the dog, I do, but I really don't think they should use them for biting people.

if he didnt want to get bitten he should have fired a gun at a car and then ran.

The article details are quite sketchy.

Do not presume that he still had the gun, or that it was ever part of the chase. Those are potentially two separate incidents. If he still had it, why didn't he shoot the dog instead of biting back?

If he was so dangerous, why'd it end the way it did?

face it people.. anarchy is the only civilized way.

Anarchy is not required, merely a change in policy.

I read the article, and I have just have to say "be accurate" there is no way the dog bit him back. There is absolutely no way this dog caught this guy and then tackled him and wrestled with him without biting. So there is no way the dog was biting back, if anything the human was biting back.

I do agree though that the guy should definitely be charged with assault a police dog, and his other crimes.

Two-year-old Maxx soon caught up with his man and in the ensuing struggle, Glaspie bit into his ear ripping it in two.

But Maxx bit back

I think it is a bad thing that the dog got bit and the guy should be punished, but I am not surprised, shocked or offended.

A dog attacks you, you either curl up in a ball or you fight back. He fought back, hurt the dog (which is not legal) and was still caught.
