We live an a country that someone can be liable if nothing is done right. The hospital have their procedures and followed it. Nothing is wrong, it's just the way it is, protocols were molded from past experiences of something that gone awry.

Wtf, did any of you actually read the article?

1. The hospital responded immediately
2. By the time the security guard got there police were already doing CPR (security are often first on scene anywhere on hospital grounds)
3. The hospital sent a response team, but the paramedics got there before they did so it's not like transport was delayed

Article title is very misleading and preys on gut emotional response.

Read the article after reading this post Thread is now more entertaining. Thanks!

Chances are he was already dead/or bleeding inside after he hit the pole. Probably a heart attack could have been the cause.

A spokesperson for the hospital said when the call came in, they immediately put their security first reponse team out to the parking lot and by the time a nurse got out there, paramedics were already on scene.

The officer performed CPR for six minutes while waiting for the ambulance to arrive. The announcement came several hours later that Marin-Fuentes had died.

Sad, I don't see why people won't wake up and realize we need Universal Healthcare. I have no doubt insurance worries and such boggled down the rescue of this man. When we stop putting profit above people we can start calling our self a civilized people.

One of my friends got his ass kicked for trying to help a bloodied nose woman at a party last night. From the reports I heard, everyone just stood around and watched, god bless America.

This isn't an american phenomena. I've saved a few folks lives thanks to my training and in EVERY situation people just stand around, unable to act. There's an actual psychological term for it but I can't think of the name. People really are like sheep in an emergency, they will just stand there and look. That's why number one thing you do first is bark orders at them. And when i mean bark, I mean look them in the eye, take control of them and TELL them what to do. They will follow. If they don't, then move to the next do the same.

YOU! Go call 911
YOU! Go grab a blanket
YOU! Hold his legs up
YOU! Support his head and watch his eyes, yell at me if he stops breathing.
YOU! Help me stop this bleeding and hold your hand right here and squeeze with all your might.
