Mr Harrison has been giving blood every few weeks since he was 18 years old and has now racked up a total of 984 donations.

Seems like that was more or less what he did. I guess they allow people to give blood more often in Australia.

The standard for whole blood is 56 days, but you can go more often if you just donate part of your blood. I donate platelets every 14 days. They take whole blood out, centrifuge out the platelets (and sometimes plasma), and then give me the red cells back.

My mother and I had the Rh-negative/Rh-positive blood issue as well that is outlined in this story and I was the 2nd of 3 kids. This guy probably helped save my life. I should thank him.

This. from reading the article, they don't need his red blood cells or even platelets, just the plasma with the antibodies. So he's probably not donating whole blood.
