I'm terrified of needles and faint everytime I give blood. Not a fun experience
I still donate though, as often as I can. Being able to help people is a great feeling
When I started fainting the one time, they stopped taking my blood.
Granted, that was in the afternoon, after a morning of eating almost nothing and drinking only a little water. Can't remember if that was after a morning with PT or not... hmm.
Either way, bad idea to get rid of precious blood when you're basically starved and not optimally hydrated.
I've actually tried to give blood 4 times. Each time there has been some stupid issue. First, couldn't find my veins. Second, I was on antibiotics and didn't know they wouldn't take my blood. Third, I started fainting and the blood was flowing kind of slow to boot. Fourth, they wouldn't tap my arm after discovering the requisite amount of time hadn't passed since they did take
some blood from the failed attempt.
Now that I'm in the clear, if there's a drive that isn't less than 24 hours before I have to do intense physical exercise, I'll stop by and give it a try. I think under the right circumstances my body will cooperate.
