Fire codes having nothing to do with it. That would be a completely separate and unrelated issue entirely from unlawful detention/false imprisonment.

The real question, that we dont have an answer to is, did he actually try to leave the store and if so did they refuse to let him leave.

If the answer is no to either of those. He loses.

Even on the long shot he won, hed likely only get nominal damages.

My wife likes to bag her own vegetables and fruit. I like to do my own carry out (and I will bring the cart usually back to the store and I never just leave it in the parking lot).

He never asked to bag his own groceries. He was being an asshole to the kid who was supposed to bag his groceries after which the kid walks away and has someone else (seemingly white) come to do it. However, the owner told the guy he was no longer welcomed to shop there so the dude left (probably with his groceries)....but why the fuck did he come back a few days later causing shit again?

The article clearly states that the store has many people wanting to bag their own groceries but its clear that this guy never asked...instead he wanted to verbally abuse the black kid in the store. Way to go!

It sounds to me like he was being stubborn and looking for trouble. I don't know how I would have reacted if I were the kid, I'd probably be very upset...nobody deserves to be verbally abused like that. I find it odd that some people in this thread are support this guy. How weird.
