I've probably seen all of them. Most recently the movie "Superman vs. the Elite" and I liked it. It was a good animated movie.

That sort of thing works with animated movies, which I like a lot - they don't work with big budget hollywood flix as represented by the last movie that was made not 5 years ago.

We'll see if Zach can do a better job, but I'm not holding my breath.

I just did a quick search on my server and found 7 animated movies since 2007 that I've seen, all with Superman

The Singer Superman movie was just bad. I'm not sure why anyone thought that would be interesting to see on the big screen. Any of the recent animated movies would have been better as a template for a live action movie, except maybe All Star Superman (which was good, but probably too obscure in its references). The Avengers was supposed to be too big for the big screen, and that worked out well. It shouldnt be too hard to have Brainiac or Doomsday rampage throughout Metropolis.

I hope this works and Snyder and Nolan sign on for sequels. The Superman story needs better villains than Luthor. Zod is a decent start. I'd love to see Darkseid and that whole story arc, but it reminds me too much of what they just did with the Avengers.

Yeppers, can you say Justice League? And the cubes... yeah. Been there, done that with Avengers.

Saw her at Whole Foods a while back. Damn, so hot in real life. Was hard not to stare; I kind of lurked near the cheese to check her out. :ninja:

did you panic when you realized that you were inadvertently fondling the camenbert as you ogled her, squeezed some of the cheese out of the wrapping, then took off running in another direction?

Its because the good guy is boring. We go to movies to be entertained, and he's not entertaining. His enemies could be though.

I doubt this movie will be any different but here's hoping.

people go to movies and read books for the villains. It's amazing that a handful of people still don't realize that this is what they like about such diversions.

It's obvious when you realize that as these type of superhero flicks have become more popular, and widely acceptable....it is because the heroes at the center of them have also been greyed out in terms of their convictions and actions.

I find it funny that so many people think Superman is boring or straight laced/lame. If any of you nay sayers were actually reading up on him then you would realize the character as it is now is probably one of the most interesting in comics. Some of things that come up:

Jor-El was about to take part in a coup of Krypton with Zod to save the planet but backed out at the last minute and turned Zod in/led to his capture. Zod’s hatred of Jor-El and his family stemed from this event.

Why were Kryptonians stuck on Krypton with only a spaceship for Kal-El? Space travel was banned by the ruling council after an accident with a space ship crashing into/destroying a Krypton moon.

Superman comes from a family of scientist, in fact generations of scientists. While he may seem like a super genius on Earth, I think I read he would be of normal intelligence back on Krypton. Despite being a "scientist's son," he's able to go toe to toe against Zod and Non (not from the movies) and still hold his own. Remember Zod is a general and has extensive combat training and ablilities.

Speaking of Non, he was a scientist on Jor-el's level, that agreed with him on Krypton's impending doom. He was conspirator with Zod in the Coup of Krypton and not only was he sentenced to the phantom zone, but they labotomized him first, making him a near mindless brute.

There so much I haven't even touched that most people are oblivous to in regards to Superman.

What I personally think about Superman is this:

His most incredible super power is doing the right thing no matter what. People call this lame or mock the character by calling him a boy scout. If you don't know already or are just fooling yourself, DOING THE RIGHT THING IS HARD!!!!!!! It's so hard that when someone does it, it makes the news. There's a commercial campaign that focuses on that.

His humility. The man is a god. Yet doesn't allow arrogance to cloud his judgement or make decisions for him. Superman knows all to well where that arrogance will lead, he lost his entire planet to arrogance.

His fear. This was actually touched upon in the Justice League Unlimited finally where he squared off against DarkSeide. There's much more to it but it's a good start. Here's the video:

Most of these superhero flicks are based on comics that span 50 or more years. Nothing in these movies is new. If anything, they are way behind. They make for better movies now because the special effects do justice to the characters and the story. Villains only make for interesting characters because they are destined to lose, and the viewer knows it. You start to make movies where the villains wins, and no one will want to see it.

And this has nothing to do with anything, just think its cool. Opening Cinematic from DC Online.

There's an 80s comic series World of Krypton (by John Byrne) that gave a back story of Superman's ancestor and home world. It would add quite a bit of sci-fi element to the Superman story arc. A lot of existing material on the Superman mythology. If the movies could touch even a little bit of it you would definitely have an interesting series.

I hit season 5 of Smallville. Gotta love the new opening that looks like it's right out of a soap opera!

Oh and Lois

I'm interested in seeing this only on the basis that I worked security for a portion of the filming so it'll be interesting to see how they filmed the bits and pieces I saw. Will probably buy the movie as well just due to the experience. I can tell you I wasn't a fan of the suit.

Edit: This was pre-movie magic. It was hopefully digitally altered a bit.
