I would keep it since I have seen too many a time some random person claiming it to be theirs. Also, if I found it, isn't it a sign from above that maybe you are supposed to have it? Do you return a $20 bill you find on the ground to authorities?

Judging from some of the answers here, and the geographic locations represented, apparently it does.

AlthoughP today I heard a news report of a cabbie in NY returning a bag with $1MIL in jewels and gold. Of course he was a foriegner (Pakistani I believe), who just might have a belief system that repudiates the "Greed is Good" mentality espoused by some here in this thread.

I love that. Saving up for a grossly overpriced ugly bag of leather just because a while ago some rich biatch with no taste (probably someone much like Paris Hilton) decided that LV was the thing to have. The only thing dumber than rich people are wannabe rich people who waste good money trying to be like Paris.

My wife just goes for a relatively inexpensive Sak. Gets compliments on her purses all the time at work, mainly because her purses are actually attractive.

Actually, this occurred in Sausalito, Marin County, and the guy who returned it was a San Rafael (marin county) resident.
If this had happened in SF, I don't think we would be discussing this (it would be gone).

If you find something of value, like a bag of money or jewelry, you are required to turn it in to the police-or it is theft.

I know you're looking down your nose when you say that BUT......
As far as I know, people of Marin County consider themselves to be a part of The San Francisco Bay Area. But if you feel as if that makes you "elite" in some way, I feel sorry for you.

The fact that it would have been gone if it was lost in Marin City (Just up the 101 from Sausalito) is more true than if lost in San Francisco. And thaT's in Marin County, d00de.

If it was a regular purse, then yes, I would've returned it without a doubt.
