Interesting. Do any of her other vids go into detail about the millions of gallons of fresh water being sucked out of the ground to feed vegetable crops in unsustainable places?
One point does not disprove another. I like Erin's main point about how people get this romanticized vision of the food they and their beloved pets eat. They have just enough time to show faux outrage about the mistreatment of cute furry animals, yet have little care or knowledge about the origins of their food or how it's prepared. Looking at some insider views of these factory farms could turn anyone vegan.
Obviously vegetables and meat have the identical carbon footprint and create just as must deforestation. Yet meat will always be the most efficient way of producing and delivering protein, period. So she also has a blindspot.
In another video, Erin's rant (while herself living in a concrete jungle) about rainforest deforestation seem disingenuous and hypocritical to me. And yet somehow the people of Southeast Asia are like the world's parks and should remain in their natural state. Does not compute.
If anything, everyone should use their own existing properties to create sustainable food gardens. I have been doing so myself for over twenty years. And while it takes greater work than going to the supermarket to buy produce, it's also many times more rewarding and a higher quality product. Especially organically grown vegetable and fruits truly do taste better. On a smaller scale organic gardening is actually cheaper and easier too.
