People in America are shot every single day for running from the cops. If you run from the cops and they have reason to believe you are armed and dangerous they can shoot to kill at any time here in the states.

Why should we expect any less from a country that was just bombed?

I'm sorry but if you are wearing a heavy coat in July, running from a cops, doing your best to get ONTO a subway car which is obviously the terrorists first choice to blow up, then you deserve what you get.

Cops are suppose to save lives, not take them.

Damn... bad, sad news. Intel and situational failures adding up to a totally screwed outcome.

I know it sounds flippant to say "sh*t happens" but I do realize info isn't perfect and men make mistakes in ultra-tense situations where life and death decisions must be made in miliseconds.

The British authorities are doing their best and it's a shame that a situation like this can cloud their positive efforts. I can only hope they learn and get stronger from this ordeal. Full compensation and apologies should be forthcoming.

Just remember it's terrorism that has created such messes.

Fixed.

Forgot, we shouldn't fear subway bombings a day after subway bombings :roll:

Fix your brain.

My brain is fine. People should be cautious, not fearful. Terrorism is only successful when it creates fear. Learn the difference.

So terrorism is not successful when it makes us cautious? Only when it makes us fearful... right. (and where is this fine line between caution and fear?)

The fact is, terrorism is successful when their tactics result in political advantage for them. Plain and simple... that's all.

Fear is a valid emotion and normal response to the threat of death and destruction. We should fear that... and take the necessary actions to deal with it.

example of being cautious: making sure intelligence is shared between organizations
example of being fearful: patriot act

Being cautious is like keeping your eyes open while living your normal life. Being fearful is changing your normal way of life.

Yeah, that and a bomb belt with wires sticking out of it could be considered pretty damning evidence.

Wrong as usual.

But the evidence given to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) by police officers and eyewitnesses and leaked to ITV News shows that far from leaping a ticket barrier and fleeing from police, as was initially reported, he was filmed on CCTV calmly entering the station and picking up a free newspaper before boarding the train.

It has now emerged that Mr de Menezes:

· was never properly identified because a police officer was relieving himself at the very moment he was leaving his home;

· was unaware he was being followed;

· was not wearing a heavy padded jacket or belt as reports at the time suggested;

· never ran from the police;

· and did not jump the ticket barrier.

But the revelation that will prove most uncomfortable for Scotland Yard was that the 27-year-old electrician had already been restrained by a surveillance officer before being shot seven times in the head and once in the shoulder.

So, the man's crime is that he looked like a terrorist. Or...something.

wow.......this is fscking amazing
The documents and photographs confirm that Jean Charles was not carrying any bags, and was wearing a denim jacket, not a bulky winter coat, as had previously been claimed.

He was behaving normally, and did not vault the barriers, even stopping to pick up a free newspaper.

He started running when we saw a tube at the platform. Police had agreed they would shoot a suspect if he ran.

what a load of lies the police said after the shooting then, not much of truth in the original statement at all

...
The report also said a post mortem examination showed Mr de Menezes was shot seven times in the head and once in the shoulder, but three other bullets missed, with the casings left lying in the tube carriage.
7+1+3, so someone emptied one clip, a clear sign of incompetence, send whoever did the shooting to jail for this

It had the benefit of getting all the knee-jerkers onboard.
