Hey guys i'm looking for a ~20 managed gigabit switch. The main reason i'm wanting a managed switch is for VLAN support. Don't know what i'll do with the other goodies . The three switches i'm looking at now are:
Netgear JGS524E
DLink DGS-1210-28
HP V1910-24G
I remember looking into this awhile back and was looking at a dell switch but to connect the switch to a computer was a nightmare (a guy had to buy a bunch of connectors (Serial?)) and then you and to use a terminal based program (you just couldn't manage it from wan port). Anyways i want the management to be a little bit easier. It looks like both the DLink & HP have a web based management which would be excellent. it looks like the netgear you have the manage the switch through their software which i guess is ok but the other two have web interfaces.
I would "like" to have one feature that i think is only available in high end switchens. The ability to selectively route *some* traffic between vlans. Maybe thats only available in Layer 3 type switches?
Any help would be appreciated.
