I work at a Porsche dealership as a Cashier and today I pulled a 12 hour shift because one of my co-workers had the day off for whatever reason. About 15 minutes before closing a customer came in to drop off one of his cars and pick up another. He initially made contact with me first and I pulled out his paperwork for his repair and started the transaction. It was then when one of the service advisor's interrupted the process so that they could check in the other car. As they were checking in the car, I asked the customer if I could run their card so I could finish their paperwork and have them on their merry way. The customer voluntarily came up and left his credit card and I left the paperwork and credit card slip on the service advisor's desk for the customer to sign when he returned to the desk. About 5 minutes before closing and after I had run the credit card report for the day, the service manager asked me to collect an additional sum of money for whatever reason. I ran the customer's card and handed the paperwork and credit card slip to the service manager. After the customer left, the service manager apparently overheard me and first asked me why I completed the credit card report for the day first. I gave him an explanation and then he told me that what I did what extremely rude. He told me that I should sit quietly in my desk until the service advisor was finished with the customer and then I could collect his money. Was I unfairly treated here? The way he told me how I should do my job felt really demoralizing.
