Manhunt for cop killer in Los Angeles

Apparently an ex cop has killed two.

two people including a Cal State Fullerton basketball coach whose father represented the suspect in front of a disciplinary board when he lost his job, police said Wednesday night.

Police stopped his vehicle and he opened fire, there was a shootout.
He runs, has a crazy manifesto released today saying LAPD is corrupt and he is going to war.

One passage from the manifesto reads, "I will bring unconventional and asymmetrical warfare to those in LAPD uniform whether on or off duty."
"I never had the opportunity to have a family of my own," it reads. "I'm terminating yours."

LAPD shoots multiple people for being in a vehicle that (somewhat) matches the guy's vehicles description.

Wow. Apparently this guy (Christopher Dorner) is a former LAPD officer who was fired for making a false statement against another officer (he claimed that his female partner had kicked a mentally ill suspect in custody). In his disciplinary hearings he was represented by Randal Quan, a lawyer and former LAPD officer. His termination was upheld.

Quan's daughter, Monica Quan, and her fiancee Keith Lawrence were shot to death in their condo parking ramp in Irvine on Monday. Apparently Dorner posted some kind of online manifesto in which he blamed Randal Quan for the loss of his job and indicated he would kill several people, including Monica Quan, in revenge against Quan and the LAPD. The guy sound very dangerous and at least one cop is already dead in the course of trying to arrest him.

Police also shot at another blue pickup in that city, but no one was injured in that incident, the source said.

It would certainly be interesting to know how much of what he's saying is true. He is certainly not doing his credibility any favors by killing totally innocent people, like Monica Quan and her fiancee.

David Ayer, the writer/director who specializes in violent, often corrupt LA cop projects (Training Day, Dark Blue, Harsh Times, Street Kings, End of Watch, SWAT) is no doubt licking his lips right now. He was born to make this movie.

His manifesto states that anyone giving aid or assistance to LAPD is in danger. And anytime either side starts shooting random people are in danger (or the LAPD just gets trigger happy upon seeing a blue/grey truck.)

I agree, but these two were still entirely innocent, if not random, targets. He sounds really formidable, and as though he has been planning this for a long time. I can't imagine this ending peacefully, but I'd rather he turn himself in (somehow surviving in the process, which I imagine the LAPD will make very difficult) so nobody else has to die.

I can't say I feel bad for the LAPD, I wouldn't be surprised if everything he said was true. But killing the guys daughter and her fiance was a bad move.

Innocent? Yeah, two of them were. But there are no innocent cops. The blue wall of silence means all cops are corrupt cops. I don't trust a single one. Should they be murdered in the streets? Not ideally. But apparently there's no pressure to change, and now it seem slike they're going to pay for it. It didn't have to be this way, but for the actions of the LAPD, this blood is as much on their hands as this guy. If he's telling the truth, he tried to do the right thing and was punished for it. How will things ever improve if that's the way the system works?
