brady > manning
no debate
Brady has never had a QB rating over 100. Manning has had 3 years with QB ratings over 100 including a year at 121. Compare the stats over their first 7 years (the amount of time Brady has been in the league)
Brady Attempts 3064
Manning Attempts 3880
Brady Completions 1896
Manning Completions 2464
Brady Completion % 61.9
Manning Completion % 63.5
Brady Yardage 3064
Manning Yardage 3880
Brady Yrds Per Attempt 7.04
Manning 7.59
Brady TDs 147
Manning TDs 216
Brady INTs 78
Manning INTs 120
If I had to build a fantasy football team around 1 active QB - it would be Manning. If I had to build an actual NFL team - it would be Tom Brady.
Brady has been in the NFL for 7 years, though he only started for 6. He is 12-2 in the post-season, 3 Championships, 2 Super Bowl MVPs, 2 Super Bowl game-winning drives, 7-0 in overtime.
He is not a stat machine, he is a clutch game winning machine. He's done it in the rain, snow, dome, and outside. And, for the record, his highest QB rating ever was 148 against Indy - in Indianapolis - against Manning - in 2001 - his first year as a starter - he won the Super Bowl that year.
And, for the record, I am a Jets fan. I loathe Brady.
and for the record, Brady had Belicheck, Manning had Dungy.
if you don't think head coaches don't make a difference in the NFL you are not a Jets fan, look at Mangini vs Herman Edwards and tell me head coaching doesn't make a difference.
I don't know if you are agreeing with me or not... Dungy is the winningest coach in the NFL - highest win % overall. He's made the playoffs almost every year he was a head coach.
if i had to choose a head coach today, i'd take Belicheck over anyone else in the NFL, and yes, the 3 super bowls in 5 yrs is part of the reason for that.
I also agree... however, I think the big games are where coaching matters the least. Great coaching gets you to the big games, but clutch players win them. Which is why the Colts have been so terrible in the playoffs in past years - Manning just could not do it. I would say the play calling (and coaching) in past years for the Colts has been fantastic.
Brady was trained well, and the Brady-Belicheck combo is intense, but Belicheck did not lead a team on two game-winning drives in a two-minute drill in two Super Bowls. Brady led the team.

Manning is great. this won't be his first super bowl win. i think there will be at least 2 more.
With last nights game you can NOT give Manning that many chances to beat you. because he will. I am shocked they held him to only 1 TD.

is it really that shocking? Didn't the colts win a playoff game this year without a touchdown? Now that is just great defense.

What?
No matter how many super bowls he ends up winning this will always be his first super bowl win.

By this logic, Tom Brady > manning and marino (which is true, but not because of the rings )

Da bears QB was awful. I never seen such piss poor clutch throwing in a Super Bowl before. They are lucky they were able to put up that many points after that display.
Manning is a good QB. I put him at Farves level except Brett always got injured like a 8-year-old with cerebral palsy on a bike.

And then John Elway came into the thread and pwned everyone.
I know everyone has Elway in their top 10, but I'm the only person I know that has him as number 1.
I ask again...
Is there anything that Elway couldn't do? I can start off by saying neither Brady nor Manning can scramble very well.

ok, without even having read this thread, i'm going to make a comment here:
Marino > Manning
enough said. Dan Marino has always been one of the most legendary QB's in the NFL and will continue to be. He set the bar for passing greatness.
Actually Manning scrambles well. No, he's not fast at all but he has really good moves and avoids many sacks. Again, the one thing in my book that sets Manning apart from all the others, and the one thing that he does better than most of the greats is his fantastic footwork. Watch his feet during a play, it's absolutely incredible how fast he can set himself to go a completely different direction that he originally intended to and he is stepping into every throw. His feet are lightning quick and IMHO it's the reason for his great success.Originally posted by: BlancoNino
