This is basically a list of some places you can get refurb parts on the cheap, direct from the manufacturer, along with the warranty terms. I think most people already know about the Dell Outlet, so I didn't bother adding that here.

Cases and Cooling

Antec
"Antec B stock items are fully functional and often look new, but may have minor blemishes. They may or may not ship in retail box. All B Stock comes with a limited 90 day warranty only. Antec accepts no responsibility for and does not warrant the condition of the finish of B stock items."

Cooler Master
unknown

Thermaltake
Thermaltake offers 90 days limited warranty on all our refurbished products against manufacture defects.

Components

BFG (PSUs also)
Whenever a BFG product gets a little scratched up, has a damaged retail box or for any reason can not be sold as new, we test it to make sure it still works perfectly and significantly reduce the price. All Scratch n' Dent items are guaranteed to perform just like a brand new item and covered under a 30 day warranty.

MSI
These are classified as "Open Box", the warranty appears to be 90 days for most if not all

Peripherals

Creative
Unless otherwise noted, each refurbished product includes a 90-day limited parts and labor warranty. Due to their special low price, refurbished products are not eligible for a refund.

Saitek
Reconditioned Saitek Products have a 30-day repair, replacement or refund warranty.

Electronics

Phillips (tvs/home stereo/etc) [submitted by AMDMaddness]
A factory-renewed product has been out of its original carton and may have cosmetic imperfections. All factory-renewed products have been tested to meet Philips' quality standards. A factory-renewed product carries a 90-day limited warranty from Philips.

Uniden (phones/gps/2-way radio) [submitted by AMDMaddness]
Any refurbished products purchased directly from Uniden America Corp. are covered by a 90 day warranty.

Systems

Apple [submitted by bamacre]
All Apple hardware products, including clearance and refurbished products, carry a one-year Limited Warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.

Dell [suggested by OfficeLinebacker]
Same Limited Warranty you get with new built-to-order Dell systems.
Dell-branded hardware products purchased in the U.S. or Canada come with either a 90-day, 1-year, 2-year, 3-year or 4-year limited warranty, depending on the product purchased. To determine which warranty came with your hardware product(s), see your packing slip, invoice, or receipt.

Lenovo [submitted by Lanyap]
These systems carry limited warranties. [there's a pdf doc in the FAQs that has a pretty extensive section of legal mumbo-jumbo, but it mentions a warranty of 3 years parts and 1 year labor]

Lets see it this is useful to the people of General Hardware

Antec refurbs are pretty expensive..

it's cheaper to wait for Outpost/Fry.com deals + rebates IMO.

not too sure about Cooler Master and Thermaltake.

Creative refurb prices are pretty sweet.

How did you get free shipping? And the only CM Elite 330 that I can find on the site has a 350W PSU.

How do you order from CM? I get as far as the order confimation screen, but it never asked for my credit card details! Do they call you after your order to request payment info? It seems really strange that there is no place to enter payment info on the web site. It makes it look like I can order for free or something.

I get "This is currently the only payment method available to use on this order.". and it lists "PayPal or Credit Card", with no place to enter the details.

I don't think so, because attempting to put a Stacker 810 in my cart gave me a message about insufficient quantity in inventory, but the Elite 340 allowed me to proceed to checkout.

Hmmm... that saitek site just seems odd.

Edit: thought I would add in that I bought a manufacturer refurbished Zen Vision M from a buy.com deal in January that is still running fine.

Odd? As in sketchy? It's linked directly from Saitek USA's home page.

Edit: Just added a couple more that were submitted by AMDMaddness. Thanks!

The dell refurb outlet has had a reputation for some outstanding deals. Some in particular a perfectly functional computer, albeit low on ram, with a license of Windows XP Pro, for ~200.

This is true. I have a Dell refurb that I use sometimes for Linux work. About three years old at this point, still going strong and I still haven't found the scratches/dents if there were any to begin with. Oh what the heck, I guess I might as well throw that in for the few who still aren't aware of Dell Outlet.

I've used the Saitek site before. The X52 that I received was perfect except for the word "power" on the one module that was rubbed off a bit. Prices are pretty good.

Apple also offers refurb's...

Link

I haven't checked their site a lot, but apparently inventory is updated throughout the day. I bought a refurb'd iPod for the GF and she likes it a lot.

I've added both your link and bamacre's Apple outlet link under systems (although Apple could have gone under peripherals too, but I figured I'd go with their original bread-and-butter business). Appreciate it !

Has anyone received the CoolerMaster case they ordered yet? I ordered mine on 2/25 and still have not heard back from them after several e-mails. My order says [processing] and they have not given me any shipping information whatsoever. Good thing I paid with Paypal.

CM is very bad about answering their e-mail. I send them a question about one of their products a while ago (as in a few months ago), and to this day, I still have not received a response.

The deals on the CM cases looked good, but if they don't pull through it would still be worthless. This 'could' be usefull for people on a tight budget. Definately keeping this bookmarked.

Those Dell Outlet computers can be a great buy. But, Read Carefully: there are some odd combinations out there. A friend wanted a second, more powerful system (than he'd previously bought there), and bought a system with a 3GHz processor but with Vista Home BASIC and 512MB RAM. The previous system he'd ordered had a single-port IGP, and he runs/NEEDS two monitors, but he'd been looking at so many models he failed to notice that limitation on the one he bought.

So... the Dell Outlet has great pricing and decent systems if you take care. On the other hand... it seems a shame to have a case which may only fit Dell m/b's, and Dell m/b's which have great Intel CPU's but no OC'ing.

And... in ten minutes I'm heading to his house to see if I can swap the faster CPU from his second case into his better-equipped (VHP, 2GB, GPU-added) first system. And maybe find out why that newer box w/ .5GB RAM won't accept the 1GB sticks of DDR2/800 Crucial RAM I tried in it.
