Gosh, what a lamer who can't install mobos....

But seriously, avoid ASUS like the plague. Their tech support is non-existant and the warranty is worthless.

Sounds like a personal preference, I have had great luck with Asus and I have nothing but good to say about their mother boards.

I had one VIA chipset FIC motherboard and I threw it away. Pure junk. Gigabyte board I had was very stable. Asus motherboards were fairly good. Intel Motherboards I had worked well as long as you stuck to the specifications. Intel is known for not exceeding spcifications for RAM voltage/speed.

You guys ever use ZOTAC?

You bumped an 8 year old thread to say you like ASUS? Hell, I like them too, but not that much.

How much do they pay you? And are they hiring? Because you're doing a bad job

Hehe..I forgot I replied in this thread as well at the start, anyway the ECS board I meantioned I gave away to a church as a PC working base unit for free since they needed one(was working fine with no issues in a nice Antec tower case).

The Epox 8KHA+ board I meantioned I retired(was still working even with all those leaking caps ) and replaced it with Epox NF4 Ultra which is typing this post(not bad for 6 year old motherboard that has been on every day ,this one has no leaking caps lol...)..

I've used motherboards by ECS, Acorp, MSI, ASUS, Abit, Shuttle, iWill, and one by Antec - yes Antec made motherboard back in the days when a P3 was king. I've had trouble of varying degrees with most all of them until I stopped using cheap PSU's. I only buy top end 80 plus certified units from Antec or Corsair and my reliability with all brands went up dramatically.

Why I had an Asus motherboard go out on me in 1995, they are the worst, don't ever buy one from them...........

Lol....see what I did there?

Regardless if this thread is 8 years old, whoever said EPoX boards sucked needs to punch themselves in the face!

Put a crappy PSU, dodgy RAM and weak cooling and see how every board goes south regardless of manufacturer.

And thats what probably happened to some of the users here and then they "xxx mobo manufacturer sux"

On a more general note, the thing you want to avoid is some manufacturer pushing the boundaries of "fraud" in which they tout certain features of a product and then ship the product without those features. Such was the case with a thermal fan controller I bought (can't even remember the name of the company now . . . ). I was stupid enough to order three of them based on their spec and promotion material. Once I called to complain, the tech-support guy over in Industry or Vernon refused to return my calls after the automated message promised it.

With mobo makers, I doubt you'll find such a thing. Further, between the big names, they rise and fall in quality with every new socket generation, but all seem to strive to maintain or increase market share through quality improvement. I've had ASUS, Intel, eVGA and Gigabyte motherboards, some with nVidia chipsets, others with Intel chipsets.

Check and compare multiple reviews; look for knowledgeable forum posts. Customer reviews at the Egg, for instance, need to be evaluated for customers lacking experience and the bias toward reported shortcomings in the frequency count, because complainers are more likely to post reviews than non-complainers.
