I'm playing this game for PC. These are my first impressions from playing the first few stages.
-So not made for PC! The mouse is barely use it, even in the menus. You use the mouse during gameplay to change the camera, but the camera isn't free so the camera is constantly colliding with points it can't go past and it's annoying. The mouse buttons are used to spray paint, but it's a combination of buttons *ANNOYING*. Hold mouse button 3 and then you can choose from your tags and colors by using the number keys. When you are ready, you hold mouse button 2 or 1 to spray. It could have been easier. And for large tags, you use your keyboard to manuever his hand for spraying, something that the mouse would have been better equiped to do. I smell developer laziness.
-Camera issues. They make sure you never get a steady picture. Always jittery. You might even get dizzy at some of the spins it does.
-There are a lot of buttons to learn. At least the book makes it seem that way. The book is repetetive and makes the game sound so complicated that I almost didn't want to play it.
-No graphics options other than resolution. And even then, they don't support much, just 4:3 aspect ratio. And only the most common of those. Graphics are similar to Shenmue for Dreamcast, except for higher res textures.
-You get to unlock songs, but they seem to be only accessable in the menu, which is pointless. I either hear the one or two same songs during gameplay or just no music at all. Sometimes, characters' voices and some sound effects are too low to be heard.
-You can only spray in designated areas. This isn't that bad cause there are many places to do so, but it's strange, it should be more free.
-Writing freeform tags are kinda boring to do since you have write ten of them and it's repetetive. I find myself changing the color and shapes so that I don't get bored. Later on I just lost patience and did them as fast as I could. The good news is that there are more to unlock as your progress through the game. It's not something you are forced to do, but I think it'll help towards unlocking stuff. Because the game relies a lot on extras, it seems like it may provide just under 10 hours of gameplay, which for a 50 dollar game and at the polish that it's in with the cubersome controls and camera, is a shame.
-You get to choose, from your black book, tags that you want to spray, you can only use 4 at a time from each type of graffiti.(The book is limited in the beginning, but keeps getting bigger.) You are allowed to choose the tags you want "take" with you, but they never seem to save. They'll change automatically. Idk why, but there is no point to choosing if they get chosen for you. One less thing I need to do, though.
-The fighting is decent, there are about 1 dozen combos that you won't remember and you'll end up just using the same fighting techniques, which may get boring. Some moves are funny however. They mod the visuals and sound, like bone crunching, on certain power hits to show impact and it works and it's funny. Movement is nice for fighting. You can also spice it up by picking up weapons, like a spiked bad and brake it on your opponent. It's not that bad so far and enemies don't take too little time to beat up to be annoying, nor do they take too much time.
-The atmosphere is nice. This game does a good job on that with the environments and the people talking amongst one another. Although, this only happens in the beginning as far as I've gone in. It would be interesting if you could talk to people. The bad camera angles and camera jittering ruin a lot of the atmosphere. At least the Hip-hop feel is all there with the way people look and speak.
[UPDATE]
I'm done with the game. No, I didn't finish the game. I'm just not gonna play it anymore. It's stupid. All you do is spray and spray and beat people up and spray and spray and beat people up. This game is so repetetive and so boring. I can't believe I wasted 50 dollars on this POS. I just can't stand it anymore. I'm on the second level, out of eleven, and on the second or third stage (each level has four). What a disappointment. Unless you really like graffiti and pretend spraying, stay away from this game at all costs. I'm not even to the main story yet that is described in the back of the box. And there is just no motivation whatsoever. All I know is that I'm supposed to be pissed off cause some guy kicked my ass and now I'm a spray painting maniac. Anybody who get's in my way get's his ass kicked. That's it. There are no open environments, just in case you got that idea, they are small, closed levels without reasonable borders, just air that you can't go past.
