iPhone SE is exactly what I was looking for and at a slightly better price than I had anticipated. I'll be getting rid of my 6 and getting one on day 1.

The rumours/leaks absolutely nailed it. Basically everything was predicted. So, the event was kinda underwhelming, not only because it was all predicted, but also because there just wasn't anything terribly exciting there.

BTW, I could really use an iPhone SE, and generally prefer 4" to 4.7" (or 5.5"), but too many sites (even mobile ones) these days are hard to read on 4". I suspect a lot of the developers just ignore everything less than 4.7".

So, I'm kinda torn, but I'm still thinking of waiting for the iPhone 7 to try out another 4.7" phone. The last one I tried was an Android one from 2012. I didn't like the size for handholdability, but it was easier to read some sites on it, and easier to watch videos on it.

I'm currently using an iPhone 5s. It's annoying because the battery is in poor shape, and I can't use my no-chip Amex with it, and Amex is currently the only major credit card company in Canada that supports Apple Pay. I don't really need it with my Visa and MC because those already have chips and PayPass/PayWave, but my Amex has none of that so it'd make using my Amex a little less annoying.

EDIT:

One downside to the iPhone SE: No 3D Touch. Oh well. Not a deal killer. As long as it supports Live Photos, that's fine.

No 3D touch on anything? Curious...

They need to figure out better names for the Pro line. They are both called iPad Pro?

The price drops (Air 2, watch and SE) are the biggest news from this event IMO.

Any info on ram of the SE?
At that price, I'd guess 1 GB, but I dunno. Apple never announces the RAM on any of the iOS devices. We get the RAM either from tear downs or else from Geekbench leaks, etc.

Also the iPad Pro 9.7 inch ?
I would guess 4 GB now. Initially I was thinking 2 GB, but with this high price point, I'd say 4 GB. Otherwise it would be totally lame.

So the $400 iPhone is here. Apple is starting to feel pricing pressure from Android land and the no contract movement. Gravy train is starting to derail.

Ipad pro 9.7 is retardedly priced.

A: Why are you using that word?
B: It is a little weird but... I suppose it is only about a $50 premium compared to yesterday's iPad Air 2 pricing. There the 128GB was $700, the Pro 9.7 is $750.

Canadian iPhone SE pricing:

$579: 16 GB
$709: 64 GB

And hey, it still has a headphone jack.

Canadian iPad pricing:

$499: 16 GB iPad Air 2 WiFi
$609: 64 GB iPad Air 2 WiFi
$639: 16 GB iPad Air 2 Cellular
$749: 64 GB iPad Air 2 Cellular

This pricing isn't terribly exciting. The Air 2 started at $549 for 16 GB back in 2014, and it was $659 and $769 for the 64 GB and 128 GB respectively back then. I bought one 64 GB model then, and then got another 64 GB one in 2015 on sale for $559. So, back in 2014, I paid all of $50 more than current 2016 pricing, and back in 2015, I paid $50 less than current 2016 pricing.

$799: 32 GB iPad Pro 9.7" WiFi
$999: 128 GB iPad Pro 9.7" WiFi
$1199: 256 GB iPad Pro 9.7" WiFi
$979: 32 GB iPad Pro 9.7" Cellular
$1179: 128 GB iPad Pro 9.7" Cellular
$1379: 256 GB iPad Pro 9.7" Cellular

Those iPad Pro 9.7" prices are crazy high. They've GOT to have 4 GB RAM.

$1049: 32 GB iPad Pro 12.9" WiFi
$1249: 128 GB iPad Pro 12.9" WiFi
$1449: 256 GB iPad Pro 12.9" WiFi
$1429: 128 GB iPad Pro 12.9" Cellular
$1629: 256 GB iPad Pro 12.9" Cellular

And those 12.9" iPad Pro prices remain crazy high too. Same pricing as before.

Whats wrong with the word?

A 150 buck difference per storage bump is developmentally challenged word IMO.

I don't believe that you ACTUALLY need to be told this, but I'll say it anyway: It's insulting and commonly used in a derogatory manner against certain people. There are other definitions, but you're not using any of those. You're using it in a derogatory way.

If you think something is stupid, call it stupid. Or if you think it's backwards, or anti-consumer, or any number of other words, use those actual words.

I fail to see how my use of the word would be any different than using the word stupid. Surely stupid people would be offended if I used that word. I'm sorry if you want me to be PC, but in this context calling it retarded is not offending anyone.

It IS different, and I feel you're being intentionally obtuse by claiming that you don't see how it would be. I'm sorry that I'm asking you to think about the effect that your words have, and I'm sorry that the world has moved on from where people could say insulting things without anyone raising a protest. This isn't about being 'PC', this is about you being offensive and me calling you on it. The R word is used to demean a group of people, that you're trying to get away with using it to describe a pricing strategy doesn't change that. There are other words that you can use to express your feelings. Please be an adult. Use other words.

I feel 4" is just a bit too small. 4.3" would have been the sweet spot for still small pocket sized device and a screen that's doable on modern websites.

Will be very interesting to see how they sell.

Maybe apple had a few millions 5s shells in a warehouse. I thought the iphone at 4" was a good size. I only use mine as a job phone for quick work related calls. Not for browsing or any real app use. I'm sure there is a market for it and it will sell by the millions. Hell, if its real successful I can offload my drawer of 5 and 5s phones!

I know it's been rumored, but it's just weird to me that the iPhone SE does not include 3d touch. Everything else about it is full feature, why leave that out?

Well, they have to leave something out so they can put it in in a year. Samsung does the same. Take something out (SD card) and put it back in (SD card in the S7). These companies can only do this a few more times before we consumers demand more innovation.

because then it wouldn't fit in all those iphone 5 chassis they have left in a warehouse in china ()

Apparently the 9.7" "Pro" can only transfer at USB 2 speeds. The 12.9" can do greater than USB 2 speeds.

Probably using the same screen as the 5S.

I'm tempted to get the SE, but I'm now too used to the 4.7" screen now...and the SE doesn't come in a 128GB version.
