There's no excuse for what the did on the field. That alone should have resulted in a multi-game suspension. However, since he'd already had chronic off the field problems -- as well as the incident of flipping the bird earlier this year -- there's really only one way to punish him. The expulsion is fine, and I'm glad they did it.
The bigger question, however, is why Va. Tech continues to have problems with their players. It wasn't just Vick that the refs and Louisville were steamed about after the game. It is very rare to see an official speak publicly about a whole team, but one of the refs BLASTED the entire Va. Tech team for their first half behavior. This is not an isolated incident. Va. Tech has ALWAYS had a lot of personal fouls called on them, and Beamer needs to clean up the program and instill some discipline, or VT needs to fire him.
