I Actually like Mariah. I discovered her MTV unplugged album this year, aboot 20 years late, and was blown away by the power and control of her voice. She can't sing like that anymore. Which i guess is really to be expected, people's voices age just like the rest of their body. I spent a bunch of time one day browsing modern live clips of her on YT, and while she still sings well, she has a lot of help from backup vocalists and backing tracks/effects to help her out.

Were she a guy hooking up with a younger female----Nick is not that much younger, by the way---- bet you would not think it an issue.

Mariah is smart and independent, writes her own material, produces most of her own tracks, very smart businesswoman; not one thing vampirish about her.....and, her net worth is over half a billion dollars (not that that is a marker for much, but still...).

Everything fades with time but content. Mariah has it. So, nothing crazy about any of this.

When I made this thread in unalloyed spread the joy (to the world) happiness, I did not expect to have to defend Ms. Carey, and yet, that's what happened in part, and that made me sensitized expecting more of that stuff.

Forgive me, I find this harshly judgemental and cavalier. Mariah has always suffered from and has worked hard to overcome intense stage fright, and so, she is always better in the studio and always has been.

No. Nor do I for any of the other things I celebrate in life.....and everyone lost count on those long ago.:biggrin:

I did tho, have a full wall mural I painted (what a fun week's vacation!) emblazoning a whole wall and beyond.....until I designed and built a 9 foot wall system which covers most of it. People were upset I replaced the former with the latter....a professional photographer friend came and made pics. Now, I am glad he did.

That about covers the emblazoning issues.()

OMG!! I know who that lady is! I know from the formidable, ongoing PBS series on early R&R & R&B wherein one producer guy finds and contracts with original groups from the very beginning to perform! She was part of the ROOTS! Tho was also taken advantage of as so many artists were, esp BACKUP SINGERS.
