Marilyn Manson's voice is unremarkable, his style grotesque and the only positive thing I can think of is his production values have gotten better. Call me old fashioned but, there are too many better artists out there to waste time on this 'never was.'

While you may not like his style or what he does, I'm pretty sure the guy is bigger and more of a 'was' than you realize. He deserves much more respect than say 90% of the pop culture stars of the last 10 years.

As for the new album, can't stand it.

I'd rather call you a pretentious twat...it suits you better.

Antichrist was a very good CD. His subsequent stuff turned into commercialized crap, IMO. Just played few a few tracks of Pale Emporer. Definitely slowed down / toned down. But less poppy and stupid as some of the stuff after Antichrist. Not bad so far.

I have his Lest We Forget CD, but I have not listened to anything else. I was flirting with taking the wife to his concert in Athens, GA, but not sure if we would fit in with 'the crowd'.

Without a doubt it's the best album I've heard from him. I'm not a big Marilyn Manson fan, but I'd recommend this one to fans and non-fans alike.

It's customary to embed the Youtube videos of whatever it is you are going on about right in the thread so potentially interested listeners don't have to fumble around with their keyboard.

I'm pretty mad about this.

You mean like David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Dream Disciples, Sex Pistols, Portishead, Suspiria, PJ Harvey and, NIN? I agree that much of pop culture is derivative but. it's pretty clear who can play their instruments (that includes voice) and who can't. Marilyn Manson is a good business but, a lackluster performer.

I'd rather call you a pretentious twat...it suits you better.
Thank you, that means so much coming from you.

Everyone has their own tastes, don't assume age means lack of knowledge or appreciation of contemporary music and I'll try not to assume you don't know anything about music made before you were born.

What you basically just said was 'I know everyone has different tastes and to each his own, but I don't like this and you're wrong for liking it.' It sounds really silly.

If you were making the same comments about pop music, at least I would call it a fair point (there is nothing redeeming about Rihana or Taylor Swift or shit like that), but MM is not quite in the same league, there, chief.

The fact that you [if I'm interpreting your post properly] named something as terrible as the Sex Pistols as great music is pretty ironic to me, though. That's not even pop; it's just a cliche. The Sex Pistols are bad, you're bad, and you should feel bad.

edit: oh, song in the OP is awful, though. If it weren't for Manson's recognizable voice, I'd just assume it was another 'indy' Muse knockoff.

Jesus, this whole album is just terribad.

It's like a Manson and White Stripes mashup.

Then you immediately do what you accused me of doing

The idea was to present bands that are contemporaries and similar genres or, at least heavily influenced by the gothic pop rock style

See above. You really need to work on your comprehension. Anyone who uses the term "terribad," has no room to talk about what's silly.

Manson is like Alice Cooper for the 90's generation.

Except with Manson's music is way better.

For me, what goes on the studio albums is more important than how they perform live. The album is what I'm going to be listening to on repeat over and over. Voice is the least important instrument to me as well, I normally just think of voice as "complementing" the music for the most part, and can easily be filtered.

edit: Voice can easily be replaced by robots and sound just as good anyway:

Good...because you'd assume way incorrectly.

Going on tour with Smashing Pumpkins too. I really wish they'd come to Nashville but seems that somehow they're bypassing Music City.
