Except in the lawn thread, it was used to imply he was the aggressor (and may have been) and dangerous (and he was) instead of just saying a 69 year old man.you don't think it's appropriate to offer at least a little extra respect for someone who performs a duty that puts them in harms way?
that's why you carry a bucket of kfc when you go into the hood. just drop it and gtfo
I have much respect for the military, I have family who has served and is serving, but how does being a marine etc really matter to this story other than dramatic effect?
What relevance does this have with anything? An asshole is an asshole, regardless of their race....
it matters because he was away fighting for his country only to come back and get attacked by a group of Americans.I have much respect for the military, I have family who has served and is serving, but how does being a marine etc really matter to this story other than dramatic effect?

not that hard to see the reason why that needed to be mentioned.
Because it's a common stereotype and one that gets played up here a lot:

With some facts thrown in for good measure.Stereotypes are standardized and simplified conceptions of groups based on some prior assumptions.
According to a police report, three others -- 16-year-old Ishmael Dunbar, 17-year-old Reginald Gardner and 20-year-old Destiny McNeil -- were arrested and charged with felony battery on a law enforcement officer and trespassing.
switch the colors, and then yes. . .I suspect those righteous men of God Jackson and Sharpton are planning a hate crime march to protest these thugs at any moment....
:O
That means they left out the part of the article that says they were beaten to a bloody pulp before getting thrown in the squad cars. (Not a hate cops post - but you know if there was an Assault a LEO felony charge in there, the cops were sure to "educate" the suspects on what assaulting a LEO actually means).
One more reason for a CCW.
I was #117463. Damn lot of South Carolinian's with guns.:awe:Which is why I was one of the first 150 people in Oklahoma to get a permit after our law passed in 95.
Now we're working on an open carry law.....
There's always one theater in any town that should be avoided due to the the predominance of teenagers and wannabe gang bangers. Normally it is close to the mall that should be avoided for the same reasons.
Sadly one of the nicer theaters here is now on that list due to managements lack of balls in controlling the stupidity that goes on there.

IDK about open carry. Too many ignorant peeps, "He's got a gun!!!"
Can't sling a dead cat around here without hitting an instructor. I had a good one (cop 15 years and experience doing some undercover work) but I hear of classes with 50 students.:\I managed to get lucky and make it into one of the first classes here thanks to my Dad having some connections. At the time there were only 10 licensed instructors in the state and my Dad knew 3 of them.
