I have much respect for the military, I have family who has served and is serving, but how does being a marine etc really matter to this story other than dramatic effect?

you don't think it's appropriate to offer at least a little extra respect for someone who performs a duty that puts them in harms way?
Except in the lawn thread, it was used to imply he was the aggressor (and may have been) and dangerous (and he was) instead of just saying a 69 year old man.

It's just a bit ironic. Man is overseas fighting for our country in one of the most dangerous parts of the world, then comes home unscathed only to be beat up by a bunch of kids.

it matters because he was away fighting for his country only to come back and get attacked by a group of Americans.

not that hard to see the reason why that needed to be mentioned.

According to a police report, three others -- 16-year-old Ishmael Dunbar, 17-year-old Reginald Gardner and 20-year-old Destiny McNeil -- were arrested and charged with felony battery on a law enforcement officer and trespassing.

:O

That means they left out the part of the article that says they were beaten to a bloody pulp before getting thrown in the squad cars. (Not a hate cops post - but you know if there was an Assault a LEO felony charge in there, the cops were sure to "educate" the suspects on what assaulting a LEO actually means).

I suspect those righteous men of God Jackson and Sharpton are planning a hate crime march to protest these thugs at any moment....

There's always one theater in any town that should be avoided due to the the predominance of teenagers and wannabe gang bangers. Normally it is close to the mall that should be avoided for the same reasons.

Sadly one of the nicer theaters here is now on that list due to managements lack of balls in controlling the stupidity that goes on there.

Yikes. Just last year I actually approached a group of young thugs in a theatre when they were being obnoxious. Management came, they got kicked out, and they were yelling all sorts of crazy shit about how they're going to shoot and kill me. Glad they weren't waiting for me after the show! Now the only time I go to see a movie is a Sunday matinee.

hell yes, and for this group, I most certainly hope they provided a very thorough lesson on this topic.

Let's think about this situation here:

A bunch of kids in the theater get pissed because they were told to stop being fucking jackasses in the theater, talking on their phones and whatnot.
So, when they get kicked out, what do they do? They not only set up an ambush using the bodies they have, they call in reinforcements.

Fucking sick little fuckers should get thrown off a cliff. Fuck the lot of 'em, they deserve nothing for being savage fucks.

I have no sympathy for what happens to people who behave in such a manner, I seriously hope the worst they can imagine is only the start of their suffering.

Of course, it sounds like most of the mob gets to walk away free, which is all the more upsetting.

All because, what, people had the nerve to tell them to put away their cell phones and not causing a ruckus in the theater.

When I was a theatre manager like 10 years ago I had to do this alot. Especially Friday night which was when all the teens came down to watch (it was a madhouse really). Most of them just admitted defeat and walked out (I don't think they believed that someone was disciplining them for their actions.. they couldn't believe they were getting kicked out).

I probably kicked out hundreds of kids while I was managing there, luckily I only had to call the cops like 3 or 4 times in 2 years. I think the key was for me is not go in right after someone complained. I waited a couple of minutes then went in and tried to be unnoticed and listen for the kids who were loud. This way they did not know who exactly complained. Going in following some customer with fingers pointed was just a recipe for problems.

One time we kicked out this crazy dude who got up real loud and said he was going to shoot everyone in the theatre. People flipped out but some cops came and escorted everyone to their cars.

Which is why I was one of the first 150 people in Oklahoma to get a permit after our law passed in 95.

Now we're working on an open carry law.....

I worked at such a theater. It was at the big mall here in Toledo, and let me tell you, getting put on "security detail" on big premier nights sucks a big one. I got to watch Rush Hour 3 a few times in the theater, but had to help keep everyone in control.

Thankfully I rarely had to do that, and instead just roamed around doing my regular job at the theater (usher, and cleaning theaters after a showing).

On weekend nights, our theater employed an officer or two to help give that presence of authority on site. I think it definitely helped.

I had no problem going to that theater, but now that the new company got rid of the awesome $6 tickets for all movies all day Tuesdays (National Amusements did that, the new company that bought the NA theaters in the region kept it up for only about a year or so). I wonder if they at least still have the military discount...

I managed to get lucky and make it into one of the first classes here thanks to my Dad having some connections. At the time there were only 10 licensed instructors in the state and my Dad knew 3 of them.

Can't sling a dead cat around here without hitting an instructor. I had a good one (cop 15 years and experience doing some undercover work) but I hear of classes with 50 students.:\
