Don't get me started on differing state driving laws, that confused the fuck out of me when I was in America and makes no sense to me at all, there should be national driving laws, unless they involve bears and the like.
New York shouldn't have the choice, the government should make a decisions and then all states have to accept it.
You are massively overestimating the defensive capability of a concealed weapon. It does not provide a magic shield.
If concealed carry provided a shield against murder, young inner-city black males would be practically immune to it.
I disagree, and I've already stated my reasons why. Your "polar bear" example can apply just as much to guns depending on who you ask. You talk about "the will of the people" - this is the will of the people in action...the people of New York. Over half of the states in the US are individually larger than England, it would not make sense for our political system to work like yours. I circle back to the first sentence of my first reply to you - we are a very large and diverse country.
You are, but you are not really a country, you seem to be a selection of countries that don't work together very well, this issue needs a national referendum and then a decision should be made about what to do with it.
I looked for a poll to see what New Yorkers think and couldn't find one, but I think it would be an overall good to see what the majority of the country think.
Ridiculous. Hopefully these BS charges are overturned and NY alters their laws accordingly.
So you think if 51% of the country thinks handguns should be outlawed, it should be outlawed nationally - even if 95% of Texans disagree? Let Texas be Texas and New York be New York. That's a part of what makes America the country that it is. If you don't like it....well, don't move here. You clearly don't have anything else to add and this discussion is just circling, so unless you have something else, I will bid you good evening.
You are, but you are not really a country, you seem to be a selection of countries...
I think that if the majority of the people want something in a democracy then that should be the law. That's democracy. If the majority want guns banned then so be it.

That's why it's called the "United STATES of America." This is news to you?
We are a constitutional republic, not a democracy. If the majority of New Yorkers want a law a certain way, they can have it. Some day we may abolish the idea of states, but it will not be for a very, very long time, and I for one am glad that I will not live to see that day. Good night.
Democratic Republic > pure Democracy

It's news to me that it's not one country... Yes.
So you never heard "United STATES of America" before? You never knew what "USA" meant?
It allows us to somewhat isolate stupidity.I'll never understand why every state in America acts independantly from one another there seems to be no national law over there, it's like continent not a country.
I certainly have, and I certainly did.

we have had 3 homicide here 3 days into the year too, not sure if anyare gun related. People will find a way to kill, guns just makes it easier.
