I thought the gamecube was inferior to the other systems...'till I got one. Resident Evil 4, Mario Sunshine, LOZ Windwalker, and Metroid Prime 1 and 2 all gave me more quality gaming time that any games on my xbox ('cept maybe halo & DOA3). I'm willing to bet that the Wii is going to deliver big time on the entertainment factor even if it doesn't blow your mind graphically. Face it folks that WOW WHAT AWESOME GRAPHICS factor wears off eventually and then you're left with either a good or a bad game, nothing more.

I loved super mario bros and the original mario.. but this doesn't look too fun. I don't think it has much to do with age. It just looks too simple - trying to run away from cannons.
But then again, having the actual controller in my hands and playing the game can be completely different. As the saying goes, don't judge a book by its cover.

I would slightly agree. It seems that they are trying to go realistic, yet they leave so many damn "realistic" things out. For some small examples, in real life you don't hit reaload and get the exact amount of bullets left. In real life, you have 3 clips, you reload, you lose all the bullets in that clip. If you get shot once in real life combat situation, no way you are still running around like it's no big deal. That list can go on and on. I enjoy the turn for realism, however it's getting old now that's it's totally half assed.

i hate the realism. im in the "balance" boat. If your gonna make a game, make it fair for both factions. Id rather not have realism since American forces should pretty much destroy other forces. Then again, im a competative gamer with CAL.

The music brings back some nice memories. I don't *believe* I've heard the the battleship music since SMB3? Might be wrong there, but it was nice to hear it again, as well as the classic end of level music. Looks a lot better than Sunshine was (I loved the classic levels though).

How is the Wii controller handled? does anyone have a video or link to one that shows them in action?

I might consider getting the Wii if the controller is easy to handle for me, I know it might be easy for normal people but I am not normal .

yeh, realism is gay. imagine if you could trip and fall in CS. or your gun jammed. nobody wants that.

Watch the Nintendo conference video:
http://media.revolution.ign.com/articles/706/706429/vids_1.html

Sweet thanks, checking out their site, reason I asked is cause I have a hard time with console controllers, I have about 20% motor function in my right arm/wrist/fingers. I mastered playing sega, gameboy, nintendo, and PSone with just one hand but games on console today have too many buttons for me to handle, thats why I am curious about this new controller. But methinks its going to be too hard for me to control and I'd just end up wasting money because I'd never play it.:frown:

looks fantastic. the last mario game I played was Paper Mario 2, that was also outstanding (but a different type of game from the regular platformer).

Nintendo is all about cartoonish games. Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong...it's all geared towards pre-teens and teenagers. Hell, the most "adult" game they have is like Goldeneye.

Can you see Nintendo coming out with GTA or Halo type game? I can't.

IMO Metroid Prime (1 and 2)>>>>>>>>>halo. Even if you disagree with this you must admit that they are equal in adult content. I found Metroid to be much more engaging due to the literally hundreds of story driving scannable log entries and dozens of unlockable features. The only thing that sets them apart (and this is a biggie to some) is that Metroid has that auto-targeting click-and-shoot system. I would argue that this is one way to allow them to creat a game that can throw a lot at you at once without being an exercise in frustration and allow the other arguably finer elements of the game to shine through.

While Nintendo doesn't have anything quite like GTA, Resident Evil 4 was rather unsettling material and and exclusive title for quite some time.

If you're specifying in-house titles then I'm rather confused, as GTA is made by Rockstar Games who isn't affiliated with Microsoft or Sony.

they have their niche. If they started pumping out GTA's and HALO's then they have to compete for a market that Sony and Microsoft are in mortal combat over.

the Mario Galaxy looks sweet! The graphics -are- better imo, granted not more realistic or super crazy stunning, but to compare them to a 64 is a bit too harsh. I think that the gameplay looks fun, and from the word from E3, wii is stealing the show.

plus it'll be the cheapest next (or 'new') gen console out I'm pretty set on getting one.

Actually, if we want to talk about the most "adult" game ever put on a Nintendo console(that I can think of), it would be Conker's Bad Fur Day for the N64.

You're right though, at one point that was Nintendo's policy more or less, extending to its 3rd party developers(and to this day I still blame them for the Night Trap ordeal!). That said, with the GC forward, they haven't actively stopped anyone from publishing adult material for their consoles; for things they create themselves they would rather go for the more accessible material(especially with their recent motto of going for the non-traditional gamers), but they're not opposed to mature games any more and for the most part have been trying like hell to dump that image.

Well if we're talking about in-house titles, you'd have God of War from Sony, Halo from MS, and Goldeneye by a stretch(since it was developed by quasi-2nd party Rare, and published by Nintendo).

Well my main point was that chuckywang was comparing a host of nintendo created/produced exclusive games to a bungie/microsoft title and a Rockstar Games title. The level of adult content in nintendo's games is irrelevant considering the fact that they no longer prohibit other developers from creating adult-level games for their systems. Just because nintendo itself doesn't create games that are gory/sexy/controversial doesn't mean that they can't leave that to others with alot more practice at it.

Yeah, I feel the same way. It's getting to the point where they're not games, they're simulations.

I was getting pretty excited for Nintendo while reading the comments on this board during Nintendo's conference (I wasn't able to watch the stream). However, after downloading and watching the video myself, there's no way in hell I'll be able to play a game like that for more than a few minutes.

Don't call me lazy, either, I just don't see playing games like that. If I wanted exercise, I'd go out and mow the lawn.

I thought a first-person shooter would rock, but seeing this Red Steel game made me think otherwise. The only thing I saw that I thought looked cool was Duck Hunt, hardly a $200-$250 must-spend on the system, though. I like the idea of Solid Snake in Smash Bros., but I'm not playing that with the Wii-mote either.

Simply put, for me, if Nintendo would release a regular, no-frills controller along with the system, I'd probably pick it up.

I like all kinds of stuff. I'm not so insecure that I won't enjoy a game because it's "cartoon." Zelda Wind Waker and Mario Sunshine were excellent games. Right now, I'm playing Oblivion and Kingdom Hearts II.
