There are fun games for the other systems, but to deprive yourself of Nintendos 1st party gems is a real shame.

The only thing I really really want from GC is direct IP network play.

I don't need no stinkin' X-Box live to play against cheaters online. I just wanna force ndee to get a GC and kick his ass in FIFA 2003.

XBConnect/Gamespy Arcade lets you do that already

Gamespy Arcade? What's that?

Doesn't XBConnect require modding?

i have waited many a day for this to come. trying to explain this game to someone who has never played is like trying to explain sex to someone who has never had it.

Nope - it just needs to be hooked into your internet connection. But we're talking about Mario Kart here, we can save the XBox talk for a diff thread

I just want to know why people insist on bringing up character design issues to poke at Nintendo, even though their gameplay is usually considered world-class (how many people still regularly use their SNES consoles, despite the graphics being several generations out of date?) The only reason I can think of is that they support other console manufacturers and want to take potshots any way they can.

I guess you could call my comments regarding the graphics as "taking potshots at Nintendo", but I do not support the other consoles either. I don't even own any kind of console. Fact is that large part of Nintendo-games have that certain childish look&feel. Even the console itself has that design-philosophy (which is obvious when you compare the three consoles together). Not that there's anything wrong with that as such, but for me, it just doesn't do it. Yes, the gameplay is top-notch, but there's something in the look&feel-department that rubs me the wrong way.

Nemesis - if you've never played the MK series then don't speak - you've obviously never played MK or MK64 drunk with buddies or with your family. Gameplay > graphics. It could look "adult like" and the graphics still wouldn't matter.

Oh for crying out loud.... My comments were about the graphics. I did not say that the game sucks. I didn't even say that the graphics sucks. All I said was that the graphics look like it was meant for five-year olds. I mean, just look at the pics. Bright colors, princesses, cartoony characters, flowers. No, there's nothing wrong with that, it's a design-decision. What I said was the truth IMO.

Compare this game to Resident Evil for example, and you will instantly notice the difference. One has that childish look, other has more mature look.

And Resident Evil 0, 1, 2, and 3 are available on which console?

One thing though is that this is Mario Kart, not F-Zero. The graphics fit the game just fine. I don't think the game would be the same if the graphics were "adult."

Nah, it was just a joke. Personally, I would've used a different example (such as the GTA series) after saying something like this:
Fact is that large part of Nintendo-games have that certain childish look&feel. Even the console itself has that design-philosophy (which is obvious when you compare the three consoles together).
since the RE series is pretty much synonymous with GC now.

It looks like it's meant for 5-year olds.
We break out Mario Kart 64 every now and then here, from all the swearing and death threats flying back and fourth, it is most definatly not a game for children

There's no cheating in xbox live. You can play with a modded xbox, but the chip needs to be disabled for your xbox not to be banned.

I'm glad I went with the GameCube when I bought a console last week. Zelda is awesome (see sig ), Metroid is excellent, and I can't wait for MarioKart, F-Zero, and Soul Calibur II.

MarioKart has always been one of my favorite multiplayer games, and the "cartoony" style is actually part of that. There's something about hitting your buddy with a turtle shell or banana instead of a machine gun or oil slick.

Notice that I said "large part of Nintendo-games....". I didn't say "All Nintendo-games". Of course there are exceptions, like Resident Evil, Metroid Prime, and Rogue Squadron. But it seems that GC has more cutie-games than other consoles do.

I understand that, I just think your choice of example was poor.

Is there a gamecube to gamecube link cable out there that I don't know about yet?
