Nintendo Magazine sucks and the game will probably be $39.99 after a week or so, so this isn't that hot

yea the nintendo store seems to be down...
its not too bad of a deal at 65.99 you get the game which will probably be $40 after a week like you ppl say, the strategy guide, a MEMORY CARD which is worth $10 and you also get a $10 off coupon for their wireless controller

This gives you at least a $60 value and that doesnt even include the strategy guide or the year subscription to nintendo power so thats a pretty good deal... especially since the first week the game will probably be going for $50

I heard that controller was real nice... friend of mine says he can control the video game from like 3 stories down from his apartment.. lol. Of course, there's really no point in doing that, but you get the idea

If the controller is a reasonable price on their site, then the $10 off is a pretty decent deal... I can't check the price though because it looks like the site is down.

Even for all of that stuff, $70 is pretty hefty... it's a nice deal if you were planning on getting every single thing that's in that package anyway though.

I don't know if any of you guys who say it'll be $39.99 know anything about console games, but that's like saying Warcraft 3 will be $29.99 a week after release.

Console games won't leave the $49.99 plateau unless it sucks or it doesn't have a good following. If that's the case, best buy and compusa will drop it $10 for a week.

For any anticipated game, they'll announce a great deal and leave it at the $49.99 price.

This is actually a great deal for people who want to get Mario sunshine.

The price will be $49.99 everywhere for at least six months. Super Smash Brother's Melee (a game with Mario in it) was released with the system last November and it is still $49.99 at every Brick and Mortar store. Even on the internet when you add shipping it is ~$50 or more. Any killer app like SSB:M or Super Mario Sunshine on the Gamecube will stay at $50 for quite awhile since the library of games (and as a result, the library of good games as well) is relatively small. This game is very highly anticipated by many gamers, and unless it totally sucks (highly unlikely), it won't be on sale anytime soon.

Yeah, I have to agree with Gear and Maximus. I don't see this game going below $49.99 for a long time. I mean even Resident Evil, Super Smash Bros Melee, and Eternal Darkness are all still $49.99 and they've been out for a few months (well, one month for Eternal Darkness). That's why I think this deal could be pretty hot.

But I have two questions:
1. Is the $10 off coupon on the Wavebird only good at the Nintendo store or is it a manufacturer's coupon that can be used at other stores, ie. Best Buy, Target, Circuit City? These stores usually sell the Wavebird for $29.99 instead of the MSRP of $34.99 and therefore $10 off of $29.99 would be sweet, whereas $10 off $34.99 at the Nintendo store wouldn't be as hot because it's really only a savings of $5.

2. Has anyone seen any other deals or "packaged" deals for Mario Sunshine? I'm definately going to get this game because there's such a lack of quality games for the GameCube currently and this should be a winner, so it'll keep me occupied until other good games come out.

TIA!

IGN tested the Wavebird successfully up to 90 feet away...Nintendo says it's good for up to 20 feet.

Haha.

Nice deal especially since there's no one else offering anything close to the package bundled value.

You mean "Nintendo Fun Club News"? I sure remember it--in fact, I still have all my issues tucked away. Buying a new NES game back then was like an adventure. I'll never forget the first time playing Zelda or Metroid or... man there were so many cool games for that system. Among my most guilty favorites: Kid Icarus. Not sure why, but I loved that game.

Some people call Nintendo too "kiddy oriented", but personally, I get the most value for my dollar out of their games. Cool worlds, cool characters, and some very innovative games. Miyamoto still rocks after all these years. I hope the new Mario, Zelda, and Metroid games don't disappoint.
