Elon will probably get tired of shoveling a billion or two a year at Twitter and hand the keys to the banks at some point. Depending how things go this could be as soon as next year. Said banks will be eager to sell the business quickly and cheaply to jettison it from their books. That would be his opportunity.

As I have said many times when people who feel worthless, almost everybody, reaches great heights in terms of success and acclaim, that unconscious self hate creates profound inner dissonance. he doesnt need to buy fox, everyone who has cable can cripple them by sending a letter to their provider saying they dont want fox.

there was a push a few years ago unFoxMyCablebox. fox was negotiating with the cable providers trying to raise their rates which the providers were not happy about. a petition campaign by unfox gave a local provider enough data/ammo to negotiate lower rates for carrying fox. there was some infographic about how many people watch fox on cable vs those who dont, it is a minority who do yet those that dont still have to pay for it(something like only 20% are viewers). this forced bundling is a huge part of fox's profitability.

if enough people who dont want to pay for fox wrote a letter to their provider then the providers can either drop the channel or cut the fees they pay, the resultant loss of profits could undo the network. being on the "free basic cable" channels benefits fox tremendously, vs being a pay cable channel. if all the magats had to pay 20$ a month for foxnews their viewship would drop significantly.
