Hopefully i'm not in the wrong forum, but I'm heading to the Marketpro show here in Jersey tomorrow and was hoping to pick up a new M-board and CPU. Never priced any of these items at the shows before and hate to waste the trip (40 miles) Looking into the Abit K7RA, or the Soyo Dragon + and also a Athlon 1800 XP proc. Dose anyone know if i may find a decent deal there. I know i would do much better by ordering online but i procrastinated and waited too long. I'd like to do the swap this weekend. Thanks in advance for any info, and sorry if in wrong forum.

Man just order your stuff online like at Newegg or Mwave. I live in Jersey and those shows are not really good deals. The cost to get in is about $7 or more. Then there's tax. And trust me if you buy from any of those vendors good luck trying to get a return. It will be cheaper if you order online.

I was at 1 show and won't go too any more. Besides if your going to drive 40 mi. each way (gas money) and then pay admission fees + any applicable taxes, I sure your going to spend less on shipping. I like newegg.

I agree that buying mb and cpu there is not a good idea, but you may consider buying case with PSU - you will save a lot of money on shipping, and you will also can see and touch the case before buying.

I used to go, but no more. There are just no good deals anymore with stores like Newegg, Mwave etc. I've just gone to one recently just to see if they improved, but they actually got worse, much worse. No more computer shows for me.

I used to go to those shows here in Virginia, but the past few years they have been terriable. They really didn't have a very good selection to choose from and the prices were high. I remember going back in the good old days and there were deals and plenty to choose from. I would consider going online. I don't live in your area, but have bought stuff from essential computer which is based in NY (I think) they seem to have a good selesction and price. Maybe you could stop by there and get your stuff= no shipping.

You know that is an excellent point. There are still a couple of things to go for. Software is also a good reason to go.

I usually don't buy hardware at the shows unless I see a really good deal. Most of the stuff you can get cheaper online. Not to mention almost all of the dealers have a credit card surcharge. I mainly just go to look around and see what I'll be getting when I order online. The one good thing about them is it's usually a good place to buy small things like fans, Artic silver, cables, etc which you would get screwed with online because of shipping.

Well I bit the bullet and went today, (like i said didnt wanna wait for the stuff to come towards the middle of next week) . Bought the Abit K7RA-133 board, and a Athlon xp 2000+ proc for 359 + tax. 378 total. Not a great price but comperable to what I would pay online. Nice part is they were both retail box, and in my hands today. I guess I gotta tack on the 5 bucks in tolls i spent today also.
