First let me say that I haven't owned a Mac of any kind in 20 years.

That said, I find the Mac TV commercials clever, entertaining and funny. Even though I'm a PC user, I am simply not threatened by them in the least, or even mildly annoyed by them.

I'm more alarmed that a number of Pennsylvanians coherent and motivated enough to get the polls a couple of days ago still think Obama is a Muslim, than I am by any informational slant in the Mac ads, thank you very much.

I know what that feature is. I'm pointing out the hilarity of how ignorant the commenter is about system restore points.

you are comparing restore points to time machine? wtf!

Isn't time machine basically the same thing? Just add more fancy features and glamour goodies.

-They do not freeze up as much
-They have better programming system
-Better applications come with it
-less chance of errors
-No freaking hard drive taking up all the space
-more simple and easy to understand
-every system is not so different unlike the change from xp to vista
-leopard has a new time machine
-better design
-want me to go on?

frankly, I'm more curious about this bolded statement.

I heard that, too, and I thought the report hit the nail on the head.

Macs are fashion statements for hipsters and wanna-be hipsters, period. There is no other reason to own one.

Dude eff my Mac. I can't run AIM on it so I use Adium, which is better but still frustrating. Second Life doesn't run and I just want to see whether or not Dwight has the right idea. My keyboard will randomly go crazy at times even though it's maybe a foot away from the tower.

Okay so the third one isn't that legit. And in general it's not really a solid case. But I do get application crashes more often than I'd like. I just haven't had time to fix my PC so that's why I use this. The software is way effing expensive too.

Smug mindless appleites give good mac owners a bad name .

Macs are great though I love mine.

I don't agree w/ a lot of JobsCo. 's decisions and direction with Apple (Proprietary OS on Proprietary hardware until x86 and you have to buy apple mfg'd equipment) but honestly the more I use my Mac the more I hate Vista.

Time machine is more akin to shadow copy in Vista. Shadow copy allows you to restore previous versions of a file that you have saved over, so you could restore a file back to how it was several days/weeks ago asuming you have a big enough free space to store the catalogue.

A Mirrored raid simply contains exact copies of a file over a set of hard disks rather than multiple historical copies.

I hated Vista before I got my mac because I had XP. Anyway, I do love this machine, but to be quite honest the two are really the same. Still the same kind of user input, functions, whatever. It's 5am and I don't feel like going in depth into it. I do miss XP, but I haven't been using it for one reason and one reason only. I don't game anymore. my time and budget can't fit it into my life. That's ok, games were getting crappy anyway. I go to a mac forum as well and dear god do I feel like it's a duty to quote people that are that smug about that thing and get them to shut up.

Mac humpers and mac bashers are like extremist atheists and christians, they're both outrageous and just as bad as the other.

I bash Mac because someone has to remind them of their place at the bottom of the ladder. This is a hierarchy.

just compare the ethical practices of genius bar vs geek squad if you want to see why mac isn't so bad.

i bet she could turn it to a slow buggy pile of turd. i know some people that just shouldn't use a computer... a mac only delays the inevitable for these people.

I agree. It's a derivative of the same arguement every time anyway.

Just get over yourself and realize that these types of people only make up a small percentage of either side of the argument.

Again, this is the interesting part, it is in fact not a small percentage of people, but rather a seemingly significant percentage of the people.

I suppose I made the mistake of thinking that people on ATOT would have been interested in an actual study that related to this topic instead of just the typical ranting, or raving, that goes on.

I own an IT consulting company that works with both PCs and Macs. Probably 35-40% of my clients use Macs exclusively. They are almost all either designers or dentists/orthodontists. I can think of two people that I work with that fit your description.

I'd love to see a study. I think you would find a high percentage of people here who are anti-Mac zealots that have never actually sat down with one and used it.
