Marriage is the actualization of freedom, so says GWF Hegel.
Because, for the most part, we live much more conservatively if we're married - rather than single. This keeps us out of trouble - and out of danger.Originally posted by: Jfur
then why do married men live longer? (or does it just feel that way )

Marriage = Death, only in the wrong relationships. If one spouse or the other isn't fully contributing to the relationship, then, yes, it will be a horrible situation. However, if both spouses are contributing and getting good things out of the relationship, then marriage can be a good thing for both husband and wife.

With that being said, I've been married for nearly 17 years - and don't feel dead yet. :Q
