A lot of responses in here show just how far in the past so many nerds live. You'd think that dealing so heavily in the technology, they'd be more accepting of it's application to different aspects of life. But no. AT'ers, on the whole, are just plain, normal males who jerk off to Jessica Alba and refuse to acknoweldge that a relationship can exist based on anything other than if she makes your peen stand on end or not. You people make me sick.

Sure, it's unusual that they were engaged before even talking on the phone - but is it THAT difficult to wrap your head around? You can communicate just as well in text as you can in other mediums if you're willing to try and to trust. That must be it - you all have trust issues. I see it every damned time a thread comes up relating in any way, shape or form to a woman. You're all pathetic and if there is any justice, will die alone.

This isn't the first wedding thread AT'ers have crapped up for various reasons, and unfortunately, I don't see it being the last.
<flame off>

Well, that was refreshing.

Most of the idiot trolls will be gone once school starts. Summers are pretty bad in AT land.

If ATOT represented normal males we'd have a matriarchal society.

Really, what did you expect from ATOT w/ such a post? You're choice is to just ignore it or making a thread like this which will just exacerbate even more.

Btw, congrat to hotchic.

1. No one needs "authority" to post on any topic. This is an open forum on a public website.

2. If they didn't want people voicing their opinions...they shouldn't have posted on ATOT in OFFTOPIC. This place is known for everyone voicing their opinions.

3. Why is their opinion wrong and yours not? Why are you any better than then? You flame these people for flaming someone who post about their marrage in Offtopic? Do you realize you're nothing more than a hypocrite calling people down because they have an opinion different than yours? Not to mention post count has absolutely nothing to do with this.

In attitude, not in practice. I know damn well they crumble at the sight of an actual female, but they like to pretend to be wife-beating badasses.

I guess I didn't phrase my question correctly. I was simply asking whether they dated versus courted. I was not questioning the legitimacy of their relationship.

I very much doubt the newlyweds would appreciate you putting a new spotlight on those who wish to pooh-pooh their happiness.

mrsdxkj, speaking of pathetic - it's very sad that you registered just to post what you did. Perhaps you and dxkj might need to re-evaluate how you spend your quality time together before criticizing others.

1. Postcount and join date have a lot to do with this, since it deals with the personal lives of other members. If you've been around for a month and posted twice, you're probably going to know a hell of a lot less than someone who's been around for 2 years and 11k posts - and I STILL know next to nothing.

2. How about sharing the news with the place that got it all started in the first place? Wouldn't you want [all 30 people who are still around from that era] to know that in some small part, they contributed?

3. This is why it's in a seperate thread.

To the trolls - please keep out. We knew each other in person longer than many couples who get married. Why do you care what we met or how we courted?

Did you guys truely court each other?

ok lets be honest here....they got engaged before ever even talking on the phone or meeting. Do you really think they know how to have a normal relationship and court each other? lol

I'm going to bet he didn't ask her father for permission to marry his daughter either. just a guess though

My question on the clarification was engaged vs courtship.

They had mentioned they courted, which can be translated to engaged (as most courtships only begin if you have the intention of marrying at the end, assuming everything works out fine). You dont court for fun, you court with the intention of marrying. I believe that is all Mrs. Dxkj was trying to ascertain.

So if they were courting before they talked on the phone, vs were engaged before talking on the phone, it would be a whole different ballgame.

If they do care, it can go away with a few clicks by me or a mod. But as with all my threads, this one will quickly degenerate into

to be honest, that part where they got engaged before ever even talking on the phone or meeting is strange. however, it took what, 4 years to get married, that's a good period of time to get to know each other. I suppose "engaged" is just a label that can be withdrawn at anytime in this case.

as long as they're happy, good for them.
