single is the only way 2 B. just ask anyone who is married.

Not everyone feels that way.
are you married?

Practically. Are you? The only people who are unhappy are people who are with the wrong person. Believe it or not, it is possible to be happy with one person.
nope, so tell me you are happy after you are
"officially" married and you can be my first one.

seriously - i have yet to see a truly happy marriage.

edit: all married people do most of the time is fight with each other or piss each other off or restrict one from doing something they want to do. its like being tied down. nobody likes that.

Then you're looking in the wrong places. I see them all the time.

Just wait till you get married nik - its all downhill after that.

All my closest friends' parents are divorced, mine are on thier 33rd year of happy marriage. And I know because I'm my parents lovechild

well - that is what i am saying - majority - and that is a big majority - are not happy campers.

I know several happily married couples. I even know some who are still unbearably cute together even after several years and a few kids--like the head-over-heels/courtship phase never ended.

its like being tied down. nobody likes that.

Oh, I know more than a few people who like that quite a bit....

the same survey you did for assuming that they are happy.
look around you - how many married people do you see are seriously happy. the ones i come across usually have a lot of problems wth each other.

I know plenty of bad marriages, but I know just as many good ones. Things won't change for me once I get married. The only thing that will be different is that I'll have a ring on my finger, and a peice of paper that says I'm legally married. You can't think marriage is bad, because if you go into one thinking that of course it will turn out bad. I think its wrong to tell someone they're going to be unhappy once they're married. Everyone is different, and every couple is different. People need to be a little more open-minded, and not generalize.

funny, of the married couples I know, the majority - and that is a big majority - are as happy as can be. Obviously every marriage has its hiccups, but I know way too many people who have been happily married for decades and decades to throw it out the window.

My grandparents were married for 72 years when my grandma died...

I'd trust AT to give me computer advice, but I don't think a bunch of 20's age, single, male computer geeks are really the best source of marriage advice

some fun facts for you all:
# n 1998 2.2 million couples married and 1.1 million couples divorced.

# In 2000 58 million couples were married, yet separated.

# In 2000 there were over 21 million divorces.

# People between the ages of 25 to 39 make up 60% of all divorces.

# Over one million children are affected by divorce each year.

# Approximately 1/3 of divorced parents remain bitter and hostile several years after the divorce.

# In 1990 the average female age for re-marriage after divorce was 30.6 years; for males, 33.7 years of age.

# In 1990 the average female age for a second divorce was 37.3 years; for males, 40.4 years of age.

# More people are part of second marriages today than first marriages.

I've been happily married now for 12 years (be 13 years in August). Every marriage will have its hiccups and problems, doesn't mean it's a bad marriage or end up in divorce or that the couples are unhappy.

9 years married now. The last 5 years have been happily; the first 4 years had their ups and downs, along with two separations.

4 years, 5 in October if we're still together. My wife and I have been separated (not legally) for the past 6 months. She has bi-polar disorder & sleep apnea and decided she needs her "space". Too bad our son is stuck in the middle of all of it.

But I'm still hopeful for our future together..
