Neither vodka nor gin can be bruised. That is a myth perpetrated on the world by a few elite bartenders YEARS ago who thought it'd be funny to propagate a silly lie about "bruising" a liquid.
Due to the various suspended esters of junipers, and the slight natural carbonation, if gin is shaken it results in the gin changing from clear to slightly opaque. And by slightly, I mean that there is the faintest milkiness visible in the gin. This does not, however, impact the taste in any way, shape, or form. It's appearances only, so if you want your gin bruised like Tina Turner, order it like that. Don't let anyone tell you it's ruining the drink in any way.
Vodka, however, cannot be bruised at all. Period. Not possible. You can shake that bottle in a paint mixer, it ain't gonna do a lick of good.
