Use Grey Goose vodka, skip the vermouth and you have the perfect martini. Also, use lots of ice and shake vigorously until your hand is stuck to the side of the shaker. Pour into a cocktail glass and you are golden.

I much prefer Vodka over Gin.
Russian Vodka (Stolichnaya or Moskovskaya).
Wave a Vermouth bottle over the glass.
Give the olive to someone who cares.
Neat.
Best was in the Four Seasons bar in NYC.
Add more than vermouth and you're not drinking a martini.

Shockwave - never developed a taste for Gin. It is too good at cleaning my paint brushes to waste drinking.

Martini = Gin.
Martini =! Vodka
However, I like mine with Stoly or Chopin vodka. Chopin is preferable, as its a smoother distillation of vodka, as potato vodkas usually are (Glacier being another example).

If you like Chopin, you'd dig Grey Goose the most. It's the best vodka I've ever had. I treat myself to it every now and then and it's the only thing I drink when I order a martini at a bar.
I don't do gin but at least I don't hold it against people who do.
