Marvel Heroes - F2P

Just a heads up, Marvel Heroes came out a couple days ago. It's a Diablo-style game with heroes from the Marvel universe.

Surprisingly, I've finding it entertaining and hiqh quality for a F2P.

I believe heroes can drop, but it's pretty rare and you have to stack up on special find %.

its DIABLO clone.. Warrior (thing), Daredevil(rogue), Scarlet witch (mage), hawkeye (archer) etc.. You pick one and play, in the intro one more will drop ( only once) Im not sure if its random or not.. I played hawkeye and got Storm.

all the purchase hero's just do the same thing with different graphics.. but they do seem to do it better.. example: things is a ok tank, but HULK seems to tank better.. at the same level hawkeye can take 4-5 shots to take a thug down, Cyclops takes 2-3 shots.. of course I cant really tell the delay between shots without playing him.. so there may be some "balance" with that..

game is not to bad.. DIABLO is very accurate.. You can go into zones all your own( very small and quick, with a chest at end) or instances with others.. you automatically join the group, you can go wherever you want, but most contain a boss you wont beat without the others. Open areas often have a BOSS wandering around also.. Solo death is respawn, in groups you can be "picked back up" by another player..

loot is what you expect.. stuff drops for all classes, but stuff for your hero seems to be 60-75% of it.. so you will always be upgrading and such.. Costumes pretty much stay the same.. I have seen no difference in mine no matter what i put on.. I dont see anything in cash store that is required to play.. You can buy health pots exp boasters etc (i have seen Exp booster just drop too) Cash shop is mainly to buy other hero's, pets, or other costumes (Old gray iron man, new Red iron mane etc.. all based on something they wore in comics it seems, Spiddy has 3-4 different ones etc..)

game is based on chapters.. way-points like Diablo so you can quick travel once you have been to them. Zones are large. Has the newer DIABLO 3 "special" mobs they glow a different color and are harder.. drop better loot and are random.

I enjoy seeing the villains and learning how to fight them. They have appeared quite often level 10 i had fought 4-5 of them.. Rhino being the only "major" one that i noticed.. Locations seem varied, in 10 levels i have seen run down city, docks, beach, jungle, factories.. all well done and varied enough.. In 10 levels i have seen 20-30 different enemy types, Im sure its in game but i havent seen the colored enemy trick.. same enemy , just different color..

all i can say, if you liked DIABLO at all, this is free, and plays ok.. worth a look for sure.

i think you can say this about pretty much every MMO game to come out since about 2005.. the new is gone.. long gone for anybody who has played the last 30-40 to come out

I no longer pay for many (I think i bought Secret World for $12?) and played it about a month.. and enjoyed it more then many of my $50 game mistakes.. NO, F2P is always worth a look unless you have bandwidth issues or don't like the game as described, have plenty of games you are already playing and don't have time..

I'm enjoying it so far, but can honestly say.. 20-30 levels in i doubt I will keep playing, maybe, maybe not..

so yep, I am agreeing.. in 2 weeks I might not play, but it was free to play for 2 weeks and I enjoyed it.

I played the closed beta of this and it was decent. I might check out the final build. Before I had beta access I debated buying the Founder's pack and getting heroes and costumes, but after I played it, I'd rather just grind if out. Don't really need to be weapon X Wolverine for money when I can just be Wolverine without it.

Its kind of fun for a few days but the novelty wears off very quickly. Once you beat the 12 hour story there is literally nothing to do and the cash prices are ridiculous. I bought a $20 starter pack and got some fun out of it, if I could do it all over again I'd probably skip it entirely.

Been playing this game since beta. It's fun in the sense that it's free and has a decent story until you beat chapter 8 at 20-30. Once you beat the story, just uninstall this game and never look back. I purchased a 20$ character pack (rocket Raccoon) and I regret every dollar spent. I've had nothing but issues, even spending in-game currency. This is ontop of them ramping the freemium up every patch. I was leveling with all the dedicated players and grinding runs but I had to stop at 36 and realize I was wasting my time grinding in a game with endgame worse than D3 release. Kinda glad I did because the only people 60 right now are heroes I've grouped with whom exploited.

A great example of how greedy it's gotten is when during between open beta and retail inventory space went from 80 slots to 40-50 slots with the option of buying 75$ worth of inventory spaces.

Having said that, additional chars are pretty damn expensive so I most likely won't be back after I finish the story line. I mean, I wouldn't have minded paying ~$3 for one char or ~$10 for a 4 pack, but $20 for the most desirable characters? it's not happening.

If they keep prices like this I predict it will go under pretty soon.

I'm going to fire it up soon probably. I bought the Hulk founders pack when it was on sale and stackable with a coupon so it cost like $16 to get him plus some extra skin and like $10 in cash for the founder shop.

You haven't got to endgame yet, so what I posted entirely applies to your experience so far. It's a decent game if you compare it to franchises without a million-dollar backing.

The game is fine until you get 1/3rd of the way through and realize that balance isn't even present in the live build. It's a game I'd play for free for a bit and then move onto a better, more polished game (POE/D3).


As for hero pricing......the heroes are a joke for how expensive they charge for them. I play Rocket Raccoon and the character has NO balance. I'm by far one of the more OP heroes, and it's most likely because my hero costs 20$ just for him alone. If I was smarter I wouldn't of even purchased a hero in this game and just got my free kicks in. Oh well. And yes, I agree; this game will be dead within the year. Expect costumes to be in packs at 5$ by the end of the year because that's how hard they are trying to ruin this game.

Yea, for my one hero (Rocket Raccoon) +1k credits and a costume, it cost 20$. I was pretty stupid with my money. 1k credits buys you a whopping 80 inventory slots or so for your stash, or 2/3rds of a costume. It's a joke how badly they want your money.

No, trust me, there are far far better F2P's than this game. I dislike "serious" themed ARPGS (call me weird) but Path of Exile is by far the leader in the field.

EDIT: this is how bad Gazillion is handling this game: Server rolls back for the third time in a week, people lose 20 minutes of grinding/work. I lost a PAID item. No big deal, right? Just refund me the currency amount.

OH WAIT, 7 day wait for support. And they have no evidence of anything during that 20 minutes. Yea. This game is diving deep, fast.

Double edit: Uninstalled. I didn't even spend my currency before I left. I'd advise people as I mentioned before to play until 30 then quit. It's like a free b-grade movie until level 30, then they try selling you part 2 and 3 which make zero sense and were produced by 4 year olds with nokia phones. That's the best analogy I could come up with.
