I finally started watching this a couple of nights ago. Not GREAT...but definitely watchable.

I waited a few weeks, then watched it. Probably took a week or two, but definitely enjoyed it. Unlike Agents of Shield, they could get in and get dirty, they could tell stories without commercial breaks, and it was that little peek in a corner of an already established, much broader universe.

I only watched the first season of AoS, but that was like amateur hour next to this.

Just finished season 1.

Found it to be very good. Was less cheesy than Flash.

Fisk was obviously the star of this show. Vincent D'Onofrio's unique style was marvelous in the part and he dominated it. You really don't need to be a fan of comics (I never was) to enjoy it.

Just finished binge-watching it. EXCELLENT! There are still a few rough edges, but I'd say the show is at 90% already - another couple of seasons to get their groove on & it will be an even more amazing show. I agree with Blanky, Fisk was awesome, he really had his moments. Sometimes it was a bit forced but sometimes it worked...I think like most shows, once they get a couple seasons in, they'll round out the weirdness of certain elements.

I liked how they shocked you with things. Like, Wesley getting killed. Holy crap! He was actually my favorite bad guy, I didn't want him to die, I wanted a backstory on him! I wanted Fisk to be taken down & for Wesley to take over! I was really shocked that they offed him, I really wish they hadn't, but they're not afraid to turn up the bodycount in this show.

Honestly, when people said that Daredevil was violent ("deserved its R rating"), I expected it to have a lot more gore than it did. Punisher: War Zone and Dredd were both rated R and far more violent than this show.

Yeah, I think it was more of a strong PG-13. No nudity, light language, and more of (strongly) implied violence than actual violence, which I think was more effective - like a lot of the scenes were blacked out, like when Fisk took the brother's head...the drip is what got me, ew D:

Vincent has the chops for sure.
The whole foggy fiasco: I understand our hero needs a foil.
To me this foggy is the cheap store brand foil you use three layers on, it still busts open and you end up scraping the roast pan for hours, missing your favorite show.

I'm on the fence about him. I like the actor, especially in the flashbacks in college where he's kind of a stuck-to-his-guns kind of guy, but he's so young looking, it's hard to go from the super-serious Matt Murdock to the giggly, baby-faced Foggy. But their dynamic is growing, so maybe in a season or two it will flesh out better.

No it's not that good but definitely worth watching.

It's excellent IMO. Not perfect, but excellent nonetheless.

That pretty much sums it up for me too. It's no Breaking Bad, but it has the spark of greatness. Lots of excellent moments. The finale was surprisingly good with the final fight & all that. I think one of the main issues is the writing & editing, there were some parts that were kind of empty or forced, but others that were beyond good.

Probably my biggest complaint is that the show kind of lacks soul. The story is excellent, but it doesn't really suck you in the way really good shows like BB or the first couple seasons of Lost did. They don't really push you into caring about any of the characters...like with Urich, they put in the token "I want to write real stories" and "my wife is sick" but you never really care about him, even when he dies...only a little bit once he's decided to blog about it. So it's kind of lacking in the care-about-the-characters department, which is a really big deal for getting people to love the show. But Fisk's character was really good, I liked the surprise of his girlfriend being kinda evil, Murdock has his moments, etc.

There were a lot of kind of "what the heck, really?" moments though. Like when the old blind mentor guy actually killed the weapon kid from the Japanese. You were all like, no he didn't, he's just telling Matt a line, but then yup...he really did. That didn't really work for me. But then when Karen offed Wesley, that was so well done, your heart sinks along with Karens as a "what did she just do!!!" type of reaction. A lot of the story felt too loose - Chinese, Japanese, Russians, crazy kingpin Fisk, etc. - I think it would have been better to have saved some of those for season two, or just brush on them but not really have them play a part so that they're introduced but not a focus. Like the weapon kid that the old guy took out, did he have mystical powers? Because the show's not really about that, you know? I dunno. I enjoyed it a lot though, will definitely be watching the next season!

So, I finally finished the show last night, and overall, I think only one thing felt CW-ish (episode 10 spoilers) and that's when Foggy found out that Matt is Daredevil. People in these comic book shows are usually way, way overly dramatic when it comes to their relationships, and it's especially worse when a friend or family member is keeping something from them.

Initially I felt that way, but if you look at it from Foggy's perspective (i.e. a normal human) - he was lied to for their entire relationship. He built a business & a partnership with Matt, and like he said, that's like stronger than marriage for him because they have to have each other's backs. Matt knew every single time that Foggy was lying to him since day one, so Foggy had no secrets from him - his right to privacy was basically removed without his permission, and remember, they are both lawyers, so those things are super important to them as people. So Matt has kind of spent the whole time lying to him & faking things like believing what Foggy said when he didn't want to be upset about things, so he definitely had a right to be mad about it.

Shaky cam? I haven't noticed on my tv. I turned all of that fancy 240hz bs on my tv that makes everything look like a soap opera. I love the blurry movements that only 24 fps can give you.

They do it on purpose on a lot of shots that should be still shots. It's very annoying & over-done. Should not have been used imo. They just do it because it's "in" right now. Has nothing to do with 240hz, it's the way they're holding the camera like they're in the Bourne Identity haha.

Yeah, Froggy/Matt breakup took way to long to resolve. Also thought the Daredevil suit actually looked much worse then when he just used this black outfit. Way too much going on. They should have just kept it simple like the traditional version of the suit.

I dont think it finished as strong as it could have, but it was still good overall.

Yeah, it did kind of take awhile.

I think the point of the suit was that it was a rough, unfinished draft - meant to be a symbol. Now that Fisk is in jail, the lunkhead will have more time to make a prettier suit for Matt.

It played stereo audio at first until I manually changed it to 5.1

On a tangent, I had problems with 5.1 on my Roku...it made dialogue sound funny at times. I tested 5.1 under other apps like Amazon Prime & it was fine, but on Netflix, the sound was weird - like words with "s" would have kind of a digital hiccup in them. I switched to stereo & it was fine. I thought it was my receiver, but again, after testing other apps, it was specifically Netflix. So I don't know if it was Netflix, the Roku app, or what. Kind of a bummer having to put it into stereo, but at least it fixed the issue.

Now-to my actual point:
--These Netflix and Amazon et al-produced series are quite different. The idea is generally pitched and the studio (I guess you can call them studios) will purchase an order of episodes outright, and set a budget for the first season. This gives the writers ample time and space to create a real x-episode storyline. Honestly, I think this is the way that it should be done.

I agree, I loved binge-watching it. I hope they drop the entire next season in one shot too, then you have a whole meal to chew through at your convenience rather than waiting for things piecemeal. I try not to get into live shows anymore because of that...watching BB was awesome because I started season 1 when they had just wrapped up season 5, so there wasn't too much overlap for having to wait, which fit my work/school/family schedule a lot better thanks to the flexibility.

 That's a bingo.

Cant wait. Got really into it once i got past the pilot. Not sure, but pilots seem to be lacking recently to draw me in. Arrows was the same way. But once i force onto epi 2 on its great.

i tried watching the new season of Arrow, or Green Arrow, and couldn't get into it. The Choreography, Acting, and Production value is terrible.

It's always been terrible. I don't see how this season is any different.

I still watched it though, I must admit. Passes the time.

wasn't it always green arrow? on smallville at least it was.
No. That happened in the season premiere - he wanted to distinguish himself from the now "dead" Arrow or Hood who had started out killing people.

What a tease, 1.5 minutes of season 1 footage and 30 seconds of preview. Dammit I can't wait!

I rewatched seasons 1 again, this show is put together very well. Hopefully they can keep it going.

Oh, Bullseye. niiiice.

Oh, Bullseye. niiiice.

There really are some good plot lines to explore in DD. Stick, Elektra and the Hand. The Punisher (skull x-ray). I wasn't aware of her, but Jessica Jones fits nicely and some cross over leading to her new series (hopefully they cross over both ways). Of course Kingpin isn't gone, and even if he takes a back seat this season, he'll be back.

Did I miss a Bullseye reference?!

I'm pumped.

I assumed "bang bang" was Bullseye. I also linked that skull to Bullseye, as I never really recall Punisher being in DD's world so much, but it was a very long time ago that I read that stuff, and I barely read Punisher or DD (a bit more familiarity with DD, though). That is Punisher's logo, though. But, that is Punisher's logo, and Bullseye always had the hilarious target on his head...which is just stupid.
