Yeah,
Froggy/Matt breakup took way to long to resolve. Also thought the Daredevil suit actually looked much worse then when he just used this black outfit. Way too much going on. They should have just kept it simple like the traditional version of the suit.

I dont think it finished as strong as it could have, but it was still good overall.

Just finished it today. I thought it was good but not great. The finale felt a bit rushed. I would have liked a cliffhanger and the kingpin to come out on top.

Vincent D'Oforio is a sick actor.

fell asleep during the first episode. is it worth watching? I'm not a comic book fan by any means, but I read a solid review citing similarities to The Wire which seems like bullshit but who knows...

I watched the 1st episode last night. It was good enough that I'll continue watching, but I wasn't blown away or anything.

Watched it over the weekend. I thought it was great, and my wife liked it as well. She's was a fan of Guardians too, not so much any other Marvel movies (we'll see when Avengers 2 comes out).

The fight choreography was really well done throughout the series (especially that episode 2 hallway). I thought the final costume was OK but
though it should have ended with Fisk getting away

First episode is definitely slow. It starts building after that. I'm very impressed with this series. Netflix is really trying to be the next HBO and is putting out some very nice shows.

1st episode is a little slow, but so far I think it's pretty solid. I'm through episode 7...well, I keep falling asleep and have to rewind several episodes (wake up 3 episodes later--stupid Netflix autoplay. I've always hated that).

Not because I find it boring, but because I start watching way too late, in the dark, lying down.

...I guess one could say it is similar to The Wire in that there is an underlying plot of corruption at all levels, but there are many things that do this. I wouldn't ever think to compare this to The Wire.

that scene reminded me of the Oldboy hammer fight. It was really well done.

This is a very good point--the fight scenes are probably the best in a very long time. They are carefully crafted at every aspect and the best part--they aren't edited by an idiot (like in all of Nolan's Batman films). You can actually see what is going on.

One complaint I have about this, though, is that the format of each episode is basically a long speech, long fight scene, long speech, long fight scene. It can get a bit exhausting.

I think the ending was just right. Fisk WILL get off of all charges.

The final costume was Great for a comic book Show. It at least stuck to the comic book. One of the things i enjoy about the Marvel controlled shows. I hated the X-men and wolverine in having a black suit.

The series started great (1st one is always slow) but got slow around 9-12. but 13 was great.

Can't wait for season 2

Same here. It was a good progression. I hated the foggy tityfit bull but all in all a good ending to a nicely developed series. Can't wait for season 2 where we know fisk will get out and his built up rage over Daredevil putting him away.

Well written, good series and decent acting. Like the entro music too with dripping red graphics. Can't wait for the next 13.

I liked the way they paced the intro as well...short snippet setting up the episode, short montage with intro music and dripping red graphics.

I read somewhere that this was originally conceived as a 13-hour "movie". I haven't seen anything yet relating to a season 2. I checked IMDB and a few other sources for Vincent D'onoforio (or however you spell his damn name) and only see the entry for Daredevil season 1.

I really hope they treat each season as a 13-hour movie somewhat like the comic arcs were set up as.

Of course, this initial 13-episode season 1 could also be the Netflix/Marvel way of setting up The Defenders 13-episode season. Maybe their strategy is to link all these episodes together as episodal addendums to the movies??

(Spoilers in this will be in reference to things from episode 12. It's hard to hide link text, so apologies on that.)

There was some interesting talk in the comments section on an Ars article about Daredevil that Madam Gao
is actually a resident of K'un-L'un, which is what she meant by her comment that she was going somewhere much further than China. That actually makes a bit of sense when you consider that the symbol used on the heroin bags is the same symbol found on Steel Serpent's chest. It makes even more sense when you consider that Iron Fist is the last of solo The Defender series (after Jessica Jones and Luke Cage) before the team-up series.

By the way, it would be great if people could be more mindful of spoilers in here. I still have one episode left to go, and I've already had it partially ruined. Unlike normal broadcast shows, there isn't just one episode a week, which is more reasonable to assume that everyone (that is in a thread on the show) has actually seen. I mean... each episode is around 55 minutes long, which means you're assuming everyone watched around 11 hours of Netflix this weekend. Note that I posted the latest episode that was referenced by the spoiler text.

I thought the same thing when I watched it.
I'm also pretty sure the Hand (Nobu's people for the non-comic crowd) wanted those city blocks to build "Shadowland", another Daredevil storyline.

You know, I haven't been reading this thread, but the show is fantastic thus far (I'm four episodes in, I think?).

The one thing that really sucks about the Netflix season model and discussion threads: there is no guarantee you are "caught up" and are able to avoid spoilers in a discussion. You basically have to watch the entire season before you can discuss it online.

Well, you have to do that in general in TV show threads. Heck, if you are on the West Coast you have to avoid those threads before it even airs in your time zone.

I'm only one episode in, but this looks awesome. Unfortunately I can't read this thread because everything was released at once. It's makes for a terrible discussion, even at work, water cooler discussions are limited because no one wants to spoil things. Some of us are half way through, some are finished, most are just starting...

I honestly feel like Netflix shouldn't dump whole seasons like this. They'd get more traction spreading them out.

It's only 13 hours of watching sheesh. Split between a Friday or Saturday night the season could easily be watched in a weekend.

Well yeah, but only one episode each week, so once you've watched, you're good to follow without spoilers.

Take note, I'm not complaining, just an observation, as it's fully expected due to the Netflix model.

I haven't had the opportunity to binge, at least, I haven't dedicated that time just yet.

So, I finally finished the show last night, and overall, I think only one thing felt CW-ish (episode 10 spoilers)
and that's when Foggy found out that Matt is Daredevil. People in these comic book shows are usually way, way overly dramatic when it comes to their relationships, and it's especially worse when a friend or family member is keeping something from them. Honestly, it reminded me of the stupid shit you see on Supernatural where Sam keeps something from Dean or vice-versa, and the other one gets pissy about it for a few episodes.

The one thing that really sucks about the Netflix season model and discussion threads: there is no guarantee you are "caught up" and are able to avoid spoilers in a discussion. You basically have to watch the entire season before you can discuss it online.

I brought this up earlier, and that's why I mentioned the specific episode number that I was tagging with spoilers.

Yeah that was cw-ish and I almost skipped that episode entirely. Guess they gotta find some source of drama
