Why does everyone think the sniper is ex-military or police special-ops? Hitting a person at 100-150 yards with a hunting rifle equipped with a scope is not hard.

Werd. Anyone who thinks this guy is something special has probably never fired a weapon.

I've never understood why people say things like that. Just like bike locks keep honest people from stealing your bike, society in general keeps nutcases from going on shooting sprees.

I'd guess that any reasonable marksman could pull something like this off. THANKFULLY most people have the decency not to go around shooting at random bystanders. But if they didn't, well, there'd be a lot less bystanders. It's not the police/whatever that protects us, it's human nature (including cowardace and fear of retaliation if caught) that keeps us from having people go berzerk and shooting their neighbors on a weekly basis.

i just hope they catch him real soon, before he shoots anyone else. then they should punish him to what he deserves. these type of (*@#&$(#(&@$^@#*&^ people should never be allowed to walk the streets again!!

If the guy was special forces, there wouldn't be 2 survivors. If the guy was special forces, the people wouldn't have been shot in the torso.

So if he was SF they would have been shot in the head? You have been watching to many movie there guy. Why good for a small target like the head when you can put a bullet through the heart and kill a person before they hit the ground.

I REALLY doubt if this guy is a ex-SF guy. More liekly a wanna be that either got washed out of boot or never had the guts to try.

So whatever happened with that black male who was in handcuffs in the middle of the day. This was around midweek this past week. They were questioning him and a helicopter from above was feeding the video to CNN...

hmmm it's not just that, he going almost 100% on single kill shots for moving targets in non-open areas.

So... you want to go into the depths of his motives? OK, here's the story. Since childhood, he's been playing Counter strike and Quake way too much for endless hours every day. Yeah, I learned how to drive from playing the various Test Drive games. After playing that Army game, I'm ready to be a sniper. After playing Rainbow 6, it has become apparent that I have the ability to be part of an elite counterterrorism organization. And after playing GTAIII, I can be a car theif and hitman....

Very well said. I own a gun and to be honest there's nothing stopping me from walking into a public place and killing a dozen people other than the simple fact that I don't want to. Sad but true.

IMO this person is more likely an avid hunter who's a good shot than a PO'ed ex-military "sniper".

I have a couple of friends in law enforcement and during a poker game this topic came up. I've fired a gun but only on a range and considering how loud they are I thought it would be fairly easy to determine the direction a shot came from. That said I thought we'd have more clues as to the source. Both of them said the first shot is difficult to pinpoint because it's unexpected but a second shot would be easy to determine the direction. Unfortunately, this shooter is only taking one shot. :disgust:

hmmm it's not just that, he going almost 100% on single kill shots for moving targets in non-open areas.

Hitting a moving deer at 400 yards with a 270 isn't too tough. Hitting running rabbits at 250 yards with a 22-250 is *easy*. I'm an above par shot, but if he's using .223s (which are *insanely* fast), hitting something at 150 yards, or even triple that, should not be difficult. Especially if there is any experience involved.
