Not sure about MA or CT, but I got a ticket in NY. I wrote to the county DA (called them, too) and asked if I could have some leniency because it was my first ticket ever, etc etc etc. They replied back a week or so later with a statement saying they reduced my ticket to a non moving violation, and then the fine was like $200 bucks, and no points would be added.

Did you get a supporting deposition?

So if CT doesn't put points on your license, then how can Mass raise your rates?

Because the points are not determined, applied or administered by CT in this case. They are determined by MA insurance law as that is the state that the insurance is in. MA has no "go to class, lose the points" provision.

There are four ways to get points removed in MA:

1. Receive a full dismissal of a ticket in an appeal.
2. Court order.
3. Appealing material facts of a ticket (location, date, etc) directly to the RMV
4. Become the head of the RMV so you can sweep your offenses under the rug like one certain one did.

Many years ago, I actually used option #3, successfully having an accident completely wiped from my driving record, points and all, because the officer writing the accident report put the wrong TOWN on it; because the intersection listed did not exist in that town, the State Police officer hearing the appeal erased it entirely off my record.

As for MA being "one of 5 states that don't share information" as one other person put it earlier, once again it is a case of people acting as authorities on topics they have no actual knowledge of other than a 8.3 second search on google. All US jurisdictions have shared all data for many years now, and apply their own rules to things that happen in other states. MA in particular is HIGHLY regulated by the State in what they can and can not do, and in what manner. This uniform treatment means that you can't hide from your deeds.

I was cruise-locked at 75 in 65 on I-90, middle of nowhere in western NY en route to Niagara Falls.

This asshole trooper pulls me over and gave me a $350 ticket.

Assfvck trash.

With that attitude, I hope you weren't expecting pity from any of us.

I agree with your sentiment (and would feel the same), but it still strikes me as funny that 'it felt ridiculous' driving in an area simply because people were following the law.
The "ridiculous" feeling came primarily from the enforcement everywhere.
No speed cameras or red light cameras here, and I saw more police before lunch that day than I usually see in a week driving to and from work in Pennsylvania, including the Border Patrol vehicles that show up from time to time.

So then you are saying the cop did in fact lie to the OP?

Unrelated: Are you in law enforcement?

Yes. The only way the officer could prevent the points would have been not to write up the infraction to begin with.

Unrelated: Are you in law enforcement?

My background is related to certain areas of Federal security, but not as a police officer. I have, however, been through the many of the exact scenarios listed in this thread, including the OP, as a MA resident dealing with both in-state and out-of-state infractions.
