No hate or whatever, but when a game makes me romance girls that look like guys, then I simply wont buy the game. And its just off-putting BioWare games are all about the characters and stories...

And BioWare knows their girls look like dudes too... they have been making attractive female models for 20+ years...

she has a manlier jaw than james bond 007 himself WTH... and who is manlier than the lady killer himself?

Do asari produce testosterone in the lore wth is going on?

Liara didnt have testosterone jaw
liliana

BioWare... pls dont try to make me gay... its enough to be tolerant we dont have to be special too.
Intentionally making women look like men/potatoes is bad...

You knew what you were doing too.... you took a beautiful model and made her ugly.

I'll go play ME3 / Witcher 3 now... had to get this off my chest

I just finished the tutorial at which point the game promptly crashed my computer. I didn't update my video drivers beforehand so I'll blame it on that for now.

First thing I can say is the game looks incredible. We're talking blisteringly high resolution textures everywhere, I'm playing at 4K with HDR on an OLED tv and it's stunning. So far it runs great too, at full max settings. We'll see if I have to drop it at all, but these are the settings the game defaulted me to so hopefully it's all good. Yes, there's some wonky facial animations that are disgustingly bad but there's also some excellent facial animations mixed in. It's hit or miss so far in that regard. I haven't seen any of the weird glitchy running animations or anything of that ilk.

It's crazy early for me to draw any conclusions but so far I can say I'm super excited to keep going. If what I've seen so far is the worst of it, count me in.

I got the game for $59 on Origin, the deluxe editions offered laughably bad "extras" that I'll never use or care about.

Heh, I posted the same pics a few posts back, but, anyway, this seems VERY purposeful, since when you are creating characters from scratch, you are missing the refinements from past ME games.
Before, you could make you character look however you wanted, now, you can barely tweak the important parts and it still ends up looking like crap.

NexusMods is gonna have to step in, and someone from that community is gonna have to redo all the models. That is the only fix that I see.

*edit, seems all the good talent jumped ship...

Getting through the first level and I can honestly say I hate the auto cover system.

I probably won't play the game until weekend, at College for next two weeks plus game does not unlock until tonight, UK at 11pm. I just hope it is polished enough and not too many bugs, I expect smooth gameplay with my 480 as well.

I've my deluxe edition already preloaded.

Played 2 hours of co-op, about the same as ME3. Still need to get used to the enemies. The dodge is pretty cool.

Have about 5 hours into it so far. The game is fine outside of some of the female models. The female models are just odd, like there were two separate teams working on separate models. Some are completely normal looking and some are just so far off. It's not amazing but it's now where near as bad as the reviews slamming it make it seem. it's normal Bioware. It's DA:I in space essentially. I think a lot of reviews are suffering from ME3 ending hate and rose colored glasses from ME1. If Zelda: BotW is a 10/10 and Horizon Zero Dawn is a 9/10 then this is an 8/10.

I agree. Their eyes sometimes point in different directions and the facial expressions sometimes are comically bad. I just pretend that most of the crew are "special" and am enjoying the game so far.

Mass Effect: We don't want to send our best out there into the unknown in case we have another Reaver incident. Round us up some 'special' cases. You know, cannon fodder types."

I was thinking this, if it took them 600 years to get there, wouldn't their technology be super obsolete?

I thought that as well. At some point over 600 years far faster engine tech would have been developed. You would have thought that some ship could have eventually either flew past them or at least caught up to them.

I care when it breaks immersion, and I'm sure someone cares if it's not included (since they would consider it excluding 'their tribe'). Can't really win the war of first world problems, I guess.

I get the sense in that with the earlier complaint, it just seems like an unnatural conversation: "Hey, nice to meet you. By the way, I totally used to be a dude, and now I'm a chick."

that is just, stupid writing. But it was more of a, well this is how I grew up, I learned or did whatever, and now this is who I am and where I am. Etc. It's not the greatest lead-in, but I don't go to video games expecting good writing. That, basically, never happens. Good stories, sure--but writing is usually abysmal across the board. Even Witcher 3 which was very very good compared to its peers for most of the game, had some groany moments...but totally forgivable.

Yeah, it's awkward, but most of the time I see the complaints as looking to keep complaining about the same thing. :\

Im more annoyed that this game seems to be lazily hashed together for the sake of multiplayer nonsense. I hope that isn't true.

No see it's not that the character is there, it's how it is presented. You walk up and say hi and the character says "hi I'm <insert demographic here> and here is my life story." As I said before this removes any emotional attachment between the player and the character. It's much more robotic like "I am a t100 model 101. My mission is to protect you." Right up front. No getting to know them and getting them to open up through the story. The type of character doesn't matter, them. Wing blunt does because it's a giant step backward in character development through story.

I agree with this. Would have been better handled to drop some subtle hints and get the full enchilada later after you have more conversations. People should just be people and who they are. One assumes that this sort of thing just becomes more natural in the future--at least, that's what Star Trek tells us

I chalk that bit of turd dialogue up to cutting out traditional Bioware layered conversation "questing" in order to go with EA's "push button to win conversation" mode to get you out of the single player that they don't want you playing. Again...assuming.

I'm all for social equality and inclusivity... but making all female faces intentionally unattractive and ugly is not inclusive... thats just ... WHY?

Its like they want to hack beauty standards by changing them in media. Newsflash.... you cant make me find this attractive... not in 20 years.

In real life, the photo on the right is simply the same girl on the left, but with makeup....oh and some chin surgery and a small facelift at the cheek/chin. I'm honestly not all that bothered by it, tbh. Not every game needs to feed the kids' pervy needs to have all their characters look like some unnatural version of a teenage anime character wearing boob armor and nothing else.

Well so far, I don't regret buying the game at all. Runs at 1440p maxed out at 60 FPS for the most part, with a few dips. More importantly though, it runs very smooth with triple buffered Vsync enabled.

The whole animation thing seems really overblown and nowhere near as bad as what's been portrayed. I haven't noticed any glitches at all, but then again, I didn't buy it on launch day either, so perhaps a few patches have fixed or optimized a few things since then.

Graphics is really amazing though. This incarnation of the Frostbite 3 engine is a HUGE leap over what we've seen from previous games that used the engine like BF4, DAI etcetera. There is a big increase in the amount of dynamic lighting and shadows for instance, and the textures look awesome for such a large semi-open world title.

Game also seems to be very RAM hungry. I would not recommend playing this game with less than 12GB if you want to avoid glitches, stuttering and slowdowns. In fact, I think it's possible that a large majority of the animation glitches could be caused by lack of RAM, since all of the animations are stored in RAM.

Although the game lists 8GB of RAM as the minimum, from the research that I've done, it seems that 8GB is not enough to ensure problem free gaming. People with 8GB are experiencing slowdowns and stuttering after playing for a length of time for instance, due to overreliance on the page file.

The greatly increased RAM usage is probably due to the more aggressive streaming system that they have compared to previous Frostbite 3 titles, in addition to the size and scope.

Can still get the 20% off on Amazon if you have Prime and get the box version.
GMG has it as well for 20% and no waiting for shipping. Also, just got the the part with the trans character. That convo is in no way shoehorned in as many people have stated. You start up a normal convo and then get to the point where you ask why they decided to come to Andromeda. The answer of "I wanted a new start and here's why" is a perfectly valid response. Mountain out of far less than a mole hill.

That's good info, I'd be curious to know if there was someone who did performance/animation comparisons between RAM levels. The recommendation from Bioware is in fact 16GB, 8 being minimum.
