As for their quotes...they had similar ones about Jade Empire. I am sure there is some technical legal reason they can't announce it until a certain point but their past record is more indicative than their PR statements.

Not to my knowledge. I thought Jade Empire might be console exclusive, but I saw it for the PC awhile ago.

That's why I was surprised when it seemed like Mass Effect may never see the PC... I shouldn't have doubted one of the finest gaming companies around

It went to pc so fast was because EA demanded some extra $$$ and Microsoft wasn't particulary happy with Mass effect sales of 1.5million and also they weren't happy of its review as they wanted stupid score like call of duty 4 got from everyone.

The whole game was 30GB + uncompressed but some how Bioware found a way to compress it to 7GB. They found a way by splitting the huge city into level :! to get to different level you had to go through a lift and that lift is super super slow

In pc i expect the game need 30GB + hard drive , 1GB of ram + , 3850+/8800GT 256mb , 1.8GHz dual core +.

Don't expect this game to run on your a 6600GT , P4 2.8Ghz , 1GBMB ;(

IF only the game had been made for PC from start it would have been so awesome but you need cash in the 1st place to make an awesome game.

I think I misunderstood your post and thought you meant installation size haha.

The devs managed to squeeze everything into a DVD, so they did quite a bit of tricky compression techniques, which is where the elevator rides came in to help with the loading process.

Obviously when they're firing it out as an exclusive, the idea is to bait you on to that hook. Everyone knows every high profile title sees every platform that can run it over the course of a few years in order to sop up maximal revenuage.

Add in that it's based on UE3 technology, which can be "baked" for any of the major platforms relatively easily, and it's a small matter to get the port set up. If they're smart, they'll use the extra time to do some serious interface rewiring for us mouse-usin' folk.

It's exactly what happened with KOTOR and KOTOR 2. Even Gears of War went through this song and dance.

Six months of "This title is an exclusive to the Xbox 360, go buy one now!" followed by a pretty good PC port of the title, sometimes with exclusive features (Gears of War had some updates and new PC-exclusive content, KOTOR and KOTOR 2 just had better graphics on the PC).

This is very good news, I'll be picking it up at the first opportunity

It's all right. There's too much money in the pot for a new Comics Code to happen. Capitalism works.

If anything, I hope folks mod as many games as possible to include random offensive stuff because the morons will either stop complaining because they've run out of breath, some of them might actually grow to realize that the devs aren't responsible for anything that is not in the original game (maybe a Mickey Mouse adventure modded with nazi porn would do it? ) or they'll simply have less energy to complain about any particular game. The latter results in less negative pressure (and stupid shock value publicity) to Rockstar and others who use adult content as components in honest-to-god good games.

I'm looking forward to this too. So far, every "exclusive" console game I've wanted has eventually come out for PC. I much prefer keyboard and mouse (except for racing games). Even with normal PC titles, I'm used to waiting for bargain bin stuff anyway, so I've learned to be patient.

I haven't really kept after it much, but I remember the original Xbox screenshots gave the impression of a big RPG shooter. I guess it changed a lot since then.

Performance Review: Mass Effect

A Dual Core processor is recommended, a Quad Core isn't providing any real benefits. Mass Effect is also frugal concerning the graphics card: a 8800 GT is capable of displaying 1,280x1,024 with all the details, as long as you don't exaggerate it with anisotropic filtering.

In 1,280x1,024 the Radeon HD 3870 is taking the lead, the Geforce 9800 GX2 and the Radeon HD 3870 X2 seem to have some efficiency problems. In 1,680x1,050 it is a whole different story, since the HD 3870 X2 is on the first place with the Geforce 9800 GX2 directly behind it. Older cards like the X1950 Pro or the Geforce 7900 GT can't keep the pace and drop below 20 average fps.

Nice, the HD3870 beating a GTS512 and 9800GTX :Q And the x2 beating a GX2 ! Either the programmers made use of the specific Radeon architecture (would be wicked!) or the nVidia drivers suck at this game for now Who knows?

I played and beat it on the Xbox 360 but I'm buying it anyway because it was such a great experience and there are many things I didn't do on my first playthrough.
