Gun control is the liberal version of the War on Drugs/War on Terror. A gun did not walk into a movie theater and kill anyone, a psycho took a gun in and killed them, the problem isn't the gun, it is the psycho.

There we go again. Because an effort isn't 100% perfect you label it a failure. How typical.

I want one and I can afford one. That's all the reason you get.

I suppose you see no rational need for houses bigger than 500 sq feet, big screen TVs, or sports cars either.

Using a false equivalency just highlights that you have no case to make.

Surely you can do better than that.

But it is illegal, isn't it? And the police do stop people who go 150 MPH, don't they? They don't tolerate excessive speeding, like we tolerate the open sale of AR15 assault rifles.

But they aren't going to stop selling cars that can do 150MPH are they moron? No, because the car is not the problem, like the gun is not the problem.

Actually, most cars are electronically speed limited. Apparently this guy had like a 100 round clip or something crazy like that.

It was an absolute, 100% failure. And yes, there is no reason to limit law abiding citizens rights with more laws that are not going to do ANYTHING to deter gun crime. You are so woefully out of your mental depth discussing this subject. More emotions instead of rationality.

No. Alcohol and tobacco use rates are far higher than marijuana, cocaine, or heroin precisely because of the war on drugs. You need to think harder. Or maybe less is more for someone like yourself.

You lefties can keep sabre rattling all you want. Gun control is political suicide, nobody is going to do shit and you know it.

It doesn't have to be though. I'm trying to reason with people to get them to see past the NRA talking points, which are utterly stupid.

I wouldn't know. I'm an individual and don't include myself in any political organizations.

Yes it should be political suicide. I have other things to spend money on, I don't need to waste $20k on guns I don't have yet all at once just because another ban is being pursued.

I'll have to pull money from my retro gaming collecting and divert to picking up all the assault rifles I don't have yet if something political arises from this. Surely you'd rather I keep buying 20 year old video game cartridges and not quickly stocking up on more evil assault rifles...

Police have announced that they are postponing the bomb disarmament until Saturday.

Jessica Ghawi's boyfriend appeared on TV today and just asked that people not give this guy the attention that we normally do.

I appreciate what you are trying to say xJohnx, but the comparison isn't apples to apples.

No one could argue that with any potentially dangerous device human's never play a part.

The difference is that we have a massive infrastructure in place, from licensing to policing (including random checkpoints) to mandatory insurance (which prohibits some people from buying cars that can go 150 mph) to make sure most people, like exdeath, dont drive around at 150 mph. Nevermind all the safety features that have been built into cars to prevent people from dying.

We don't have anything even close to this when it comes to guns.

Whenever anyone tries to put in place anything which even sniffs of something similar for gun ownership, the NRA is there to block it.

It has been reported by multiple outlets that the suspect had, in fact, dyed his hair red and identified himself as The Joker to police.

... not surprised.

Movies have a tremendous influence on people. I don't know why this doesn't seem to be understood.

Cut down on the violence in movies and vid games, we could see a decrease in violence maybe...

Changing the subject, the last refuge of those with no argument to make.

On a related note, you'll be happy to know that most Americans support assault rifle bans!

Um, no, that's not why at all, not even close. Pot, dope, and coke are all cheaper, better, and more available than ever before, their lack of use compared to tobacco and alcohol is partly because they are illegal, but more because people just don't want to do them. Would YOU run out and start shooting up heroin if it were legal? Doubt it, just as the majority of people that don't do them are not going to run out and start smoking crack because it is legal. That's just the stupidest shit I have ever heard ...well, almost, you've had some real doozies so far in this thread, might have to have a run off for dumbest comment.

Nope. Who the fuck do you think you are? King of the world?

I'm simply saying that the persecution complex that the gun lobby cultivates is stupid. Guns are a hobby. I'm sure that they can be fun, and I have purposely never bought one because I know that it would bring out negative aspects of my persona, but they're not essential.

You want to go 150 MPH on the highway but can't. You know why?

because you might injure another person on the highway.

You might want to shoot your gun in the general vicinity of a school, but you can't. know why?

Your arguments are retarded.

You can own a car and go 150mph on the highway IF YOU BREAK THE LAW.
You can own a gun and shoot someone IF YOU BREAK THE LAW.

Owning a car or a gun does not mean you'll hurt someone with them. The majority of people who own a car will never do something stupid with it, just like the majority of people that own a gun will never do something stupid with it.

This thread would be better if you took your flamewar elsewhere exdeath & karmy. This is a news story, not a political debate and especially not a place for two people that are OBVIOUSLY PAST THEIR BEDTIME to have a pissing contest.

You gun owners have proven time and time again you are not responsible enough to own them. End of story.

You're an idiot.

"You gun owners"? I own 5 guns and I've never gone on a murdering spree and never will. Why don't the gun grabbers volunteer to go door by door and try to take law abiding citizen's guns away. The herd would be culled of you idiots in a week.

Wrong. Everytime I buy a handgun I have to fill out a 4473, and have a background check done, don't have to do that with a car. And there is NOTHING stopping someone from getting on the freeway and putting the pedal through the floor. None of the "licensing, check points (never seen a speeding check point lol), or insurance" is going to stop someone from going 150MPH on the freeway.
