even though I was a huge fan of the first two, I've heard nothing but complaints regarding this third installment. Still, for free, I should probably get in on this one.

That's what I was thinking. Even if I only played it once every 6 months I'd probably get it when it hit the bargin bins, and for free it's not going to be much more of a bargin than that

Check out the customer reviews @ amazon for this title..... hilarious.

This is a good find. I know a few people that enjoy this game. For zero dollars how can you lose.

Actually, MOO3 isn't worth the hassle of sending in rebates. In fact, if someone gave it to you for free, assuming this person had full knowledge of the "gift", you should probably punch them in the face. Hard.

It wouldn't have been so bad if the other games in the franchise hadn't been so good that so many people (like me) bought it without a second thought that it might suck. Seldom have I felt so betrayed by a purchase.

I hate to seem picky but this definitely isn't free. If you get your rebate back in 3 months then you've been missing out on the interest for $20 over that period (about 50 cents). Furthermore there is the cost of the stamps and more importantly the cost of your time/effort. MOST importantly there is the cost of your time actually playing this horrible game. For this to be a truly "free" deal IMO you'd need to get back enough money by the rebate to make the decision to play this be inconsequential to your decision to purchase it.

Just my 2 cents... I wouldn't touch this deal with a really long pointed stick.

FWIW, I was a big fan of MOO2 (never played 1) and after all the negative press I decided I wouldn't buy 3 until either patching significantly improved it or it showed up in the bargain bin. So I scored it a few weeks ago when it was $9.99 AR, patched it up, then fired it up and I gotta say that it hasn't been that bad of an experience for me, although to be fair I pretty much expected a Civ:CTP experience. Most of the criticisms of the game are definitely valid to varying degrees of individual taste but I've personally enjoyed it enough to merit spending $10 on it. YMMV of course

This game was a little too complicated for me (not that I'm dumb or anything). Just too much stuff to micro manage. I ended up Ebaying it for ~$15. Not a bad deal.

I played alot of MOO, and a super amount of time on MOO2. Kazaa has this as a free download (it expires after like 10 hours of play), but it was more than enough to see that I wouldn't even get this game for free, cuz it would be a waste of my time.

I bought it within a week or so from release, was very excited about it too, being a fan of the first two. Unfortunately despite trying numerous times to get into it, just couldn't do it. So had to e-bay it. IMO at this point -- it's just not worth the time it takes to install and uninstall. But then again, there are some die hard fans...

I have a copy, but don't have a way to scan it. I have it printed out.
I could fax it. Or send it to you if you send me a SASE.

PM me.

EDIT: I remember a post from a while ago that if you call Amazon they can get you the link. You won't find their phone number on their web site. (Amazon.Com Customer Service: 800-201-7575)

Oh, it was a while ago and not from Amazon -- no rebates there at the time.

even if this was totally hassle free, it's still a rip off cause the game is horrid. :-(
