I snagged a Xeon x3 1270 for a good price, its basically a i7 2600 3.4ghz quad core with HT and I'm looking to play games on my 60 inch led HDTV at 1080p with a wired Xbox 360 controller. I've got a corsair cx430 watt PSU with one 6+2 pin PCI e connector. I'd like to keep the PSU if possible.

I haven't bought a video card since the hd6850 came out so I need some help. I don't play BF4 at all and have no interest too honestly. Will mainly be playing single player games I do my online stuff with my console. The main reason I decided to build a PC was so I could snag cheap games thru steam sales because the console games take forever to drop in price.

Ive heard the hd7850 was the best bang for the buck now and to get that until the next cards come out then get a new card. Im looking at spending $200 max right now so i can get this thing up and running.

What do you suggest with the info I listed above?

R9 270 (7870 equivalent). The MSI Gaming version is a nice one and 270's run about $180 and only needs 1-6 pin pcie power connector

I was thinking of picking up a couple of those myself. Seems like a great card!

What's the difference between a 270 and a 270x? I'd like to find a used one and save some cash so I can put it towards a sad too.
I need to find some benchmarks so I can get a idea of the frame rate I'll get with that card

Be careful with used ones- a lot of them have been used by cryptocurrency miners, i.e. run flat-out 24/7.

Its the same core. The 270x needs 2 - 6 pin power connectors and is just clocked higher by default. You can easily overclock the non-X up quite a bit too. the X would have more headroom, but the 270 should be a good fit for your situation.

Agree with the others, the R9 270 is the current fastest card with only one 6-pin connector. In the below chart, all the cards faster than R9 270 require dual connectors, and of the slower ones, the fastest to use only one PCIe connector is the 650 Ti Boost at only 85% as much performance. The 6850 you have falls right in the middle of the 7770 and the 6870, making the R9 270 a good 70-75% faster.

Keep checking newegg's open box deals. I grabbed an open box Asus 270 two weeks ago for $140. A few days ago, I saw a Powercolor 270X for $160. Can't go wrong with either one of those two deals.

Asus 270 runs great. OCed to 1050/1500 right out of the box with stock voltage, no powertune adjustments. Runs extremely cool and quiet even though it has a 7970 right under it and even though it is at 100% fan speed! Can't hear it over my 7970 which is at 50-60% fan speed.

You pretty much can't go wrong with any 270 or 270X, as long as the price is right.
